Design of a prodrug photocage for cancer cells detection and anticancer drug release
This article presents the design and synthesis of a novel Rhodamine B fluorescence probe. The design strategy involves utilizing an anticancer drug (Melphalan) to bind with a fluorescent group (HRhod-OH), forming HRhod-MeL, which is non-fluorescent. However, when exposed to the high levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) of cancer cells, HRhod-MeL transforms into a red-emitting Photocage (Rhod-MeL), and selectively accumulates in the mitochondria of cancer cells, where, when activated with green light (556 nm), anti-cancer drugs released. The Photocage improve the efficacy of anti-cancer drugs and enables the precise diag...

A new derivatizing reagent for the determination of 5-nitro-2-furaldehyde in trout muscle by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry
This study aims at developping an analytical method for 5-NF determination in trout muscle samples based on chemical derivatization prior to analysis by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Four commercially available hydrazine reagents, namely: N,N-Dimethylhydrazine (DMH), 4-Hydrazinobenzoic acid (HBA), 2,4-Dichlorophenylhydrazine (2,4-DCPH) and 2,6-Dichlorophenylhydrazine (2,6-DCPH) were proposed for the first time as derivatizing reagents in the analysis of 5-NF. The derivatization reaction was simultaneously performed along with the extraction method in acidic condition using ultrasonic assistance and follow...

Talanta. 2024 Mar 27;274:126000. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.126000. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLuminescent β-diketonate-europium(III) complexes have been found a wide range of applications in time-gated luminescence (TGL) bioassays, but their poor water solubility is a main problem that limits their effective uses. In this work we propose a simple and general strategy to enhance the water solubility of luminescent β-diketonate-europium(III) complexes that permits facile synthesis and purification. By introducing the fluorinated carboxylic acid group into the structures of β-diketone ligands, two highly water-soluble...

Direct detection of acetylcholinesterase by Fe(HCOO) < sub > 2.6 < /sub > (OH) < sub > 0.3 < /sub > . H < sub > 2 < /sub > O nanosheets with oxidase-like activity on a smartphone platform
Talanta. 2024 Apr 8;274:126074. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.126074. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMonitoring acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is crucial in clinical diagnosis and drug screening. Traditional methods for detecting AChE usually require the addition of intermediates like acetylthiocholine, which complicates the detection process and introduces interference risks. Herein, we develop a direct colorimetric assay based on alkaline iron formate nanosheets (Fe(HCOO)2.6(OH)0.3·H2O NSs, Fef NSs) for the detection of AChE without any intermediates. The as-prepared Fef NSs exhibit oxidase-like activity, catalyzing the gener...

A highly sensitive, long-time stable Ag/AgCl ultra-micro sensor for in situ monitoring chloride ions inside the crevice using SECM
Talanta. 2024 Apr 4;274:126026. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.126026. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTracking the variation of Cl- timely within the crevice is of great significance for comprehending the dynamic mechanism of crevice corrosion. The reported chloride ion selective electrodes are difficult to realize the long-time Cl- detection inside the confined crevice, due to their millimeter size or a relative limited lifespan. For this purpose, an Ag/AgCl ultra-micro sensor (UMS) with a radius of 12.5 μm was fabricated and optimized using laser drawing and electrodeposition techniques. Results show the AgCl film's structu...

Portable one-step effervescence tablet-based microextraction combined with smartphone digital image colorimetry: Toward field and rapid detection of trace nickel ion
In this study, the one-step switchable hydrophilic solvent (SHS)-based effervescence tablet microextraction (ETME) was coupled with smartphone digital image colorimetry (SDIC) for the field detection of nickel ion (Ni2+) for the first time. Both extractant and CO2 were generated in situ when the novel SHS-based effervescence tablet was placed in the sample solution. The complexant 1-(2-pyridinylazo)-2-naphthaleno (PAN) dissolved from the effervescence tablet to form a stable complex with Ni2+, and the extractant was uniformly dispersed in the sample solution under the action of CO2 and fully in contact with Ni-PAN, which e...

Design, synthesis, and evaluation of a carboxylesterase detection probe with therapeutic effects
In this study, a lysosomal targeting fluorescent probe recognition on CEs was designed and synthesized. The obtained probe BF2-cur-Mor demonstrated excellent selectivity, sensitivity, pH-independence, and enzyme affinity towards CEs within 5 min. BF2-cur-Mor could enable recognition of intracellular CEs and elucidate that the CEs content of different cancer cells follows the rule of HepG2 > HCT-116 > A549 > HeLa, and the CEs expression level of hepatoma cancer cells far exceeds that of normal hepatic cells, being in good agreement with the previous reports. The ability of BF2-cur-Mor to monitor CEs in vivo was con...
