A nitrogen-doped hollow carbon nanospheres-based aptasensor for non-invasive salivary detection of progesterone
In this study, an ultrasensitive electrochemical aptasensor is fabricated for monitoring P4 in human biofluids. The sensing interface was designed based on the porous nitrogen-doped hollow carbon spheres (N-HCSs). The N-HCSs covalently immobilized high-dense aptamer (Apt) sequences as the bioreceptor of P4. The electron transfer of the redox probe was hindered by incubating P4 on the aptasensor surface and forming the P4-Apt complexes. Meanwhile, the signaling was decreased under two wide linear dynamic ranges (LDRs) from 10 fM to 5.6 μM with a limit of detection (LOD) value of 3.33 fM. The aptasensor presented satisfacto...

Combined fabrication of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 and lanthanide towards coordination polymers: A dual-signal fluorescent probe for sensing Cu < sup > 2+ < /sup > based on synergistic e ffect of aggregation-induced emission and antenna effect
Talanta. 2024 Mar 18;273:125941. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125941. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCopper ion (Cu2+) detection remains an important task for monitoring water quality because of its specific toxicity. Herein, a new dual-signal fluorescent probe was developed by combining zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) and lanthanide for the detection of Cu2+ for the first time. The lanthanide coordination polymer (guanosine monophosphate and Eu3+, GMP/Eu) was initially incorporated into ZIF-8 to yield ZIF-8/GMP/Eu nanomaterials with extremely weak single emission fluorescence at 618 nm. It was found that the resul...

Ultrasensitive detection of tyrosinase with click reaction-combined dark-field imaging platform
In this study, we developed an ingenious and powerful method for the ultrasensitive detection of TYR by click reaction-combined dark-field microscopy. This method begins with the formation of cuprous ions (Cu+) based on the reduction of copper ions (Cu2+) by ascorbic acid (AA). Subsequently, the formed Cu+ can catalyze the crosslinking between azide- and alkyne-functionalized gold nanoparticles, causing a significant red-shift in the scattering spectrum. However, AA can chelate with TYR, which inhibits the generation of Cu+ and subsequent click reaction, thus achieving TYR-controlled scattering spectral shift. The proposed...

Development and validation of a versatile non-invasive urinary steroidomics method for wildlife biomonitoring
This study presents a validated steroidomics method for the (un)targeted screening of a wide range of sex and stress steroids and related molecules in urine using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS). In total, 50 steroids (conjugated and non-conjugated androgens, estrogens, progestogens and glucocorticoids) and 6 prostaglandins could be uniquely detected. A total of 45 out of 56 compounds demonstrated a detection limit below 0.01 ng μL-1. Excellent linearity (R2 > 0.99), precision (CV < 20 %), and recovery (80-120 %) were observed for 46, 41, and 39 ...

An electrochemiluminescence sensor based on lanthanide bimetallic MOFs with a "cascade sensitization mechanism" for the sensitive detection of CA242
Talanta. 2024 Mar 21;273:125956. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125956. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLanthanide metal-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) broaden the optical sensing applications of lanthanide ions due to the antenna effect between organic ligands and metals. However, the sensitization ability of the ligand to metal ions is limited, and maximizing the sensitization of the electrochemiluminescence behavior of Eu3+ is still a challenge for the application of Ln-MOFs. Therefore, under the guidance of the "cascade sensitization mechanism" based on the antenna effect sensitizing the electrochemiluminescence of bimetallic...

Talanta. 2024 Mar 19;273:125942. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125942. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this work, a reusable DNA sensing microchip was developed for detection of vomitoxin (deoxynivalenol, DON) in sorghum using Cd-based core-shell CdSe@CdS quantum dots (QDs) as promising electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emitter. The size-adjustable aqueous phase CdSe@CdS QDs were prepared through homogeneous method, exhibiting strong cathodic ECL emission with a central wavelength of 520 nm in S2O82- coreactant. And gold nanoparticles-modified iron cobalt cyanide hydrate (Fe-Co-Au) was introduced as an accelerator to amplify t...

Glutathione ligand self-assembly enables luminescence from Au < sub > 15 < /sub > nanoclusters for highly sensitive and selective monitoring of blood Pb(II) ions
Talanta. 2024 Mar 11;273:125905. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125905. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLead Pb(II) ions is a cumulative toxicant that impacts several biological systems and poses severe harm to young children. Accurate Pb(II) ions monitoring is thus of paramount importance. Here, we present the synthesis and application of glutathione-capped Au15 nanoclusters (Au15(SG)13) as a luminescence probe for the accurate and selective monitoring of blood Pb(II). The introduction of Pb(II) ions triggers orderly self-assembly of Au15 nanoclusters, resulting in the formation of rigid shell around Au nuclei. This limits the...
