A three-dimensional hierarchical porous graphene aerogel as a fiber coating for headspace solid-phase microextraction: Enhancing the enrichment and detection of polychlorinated naphthalenes in fish
In this study, a novel three-dimensional hierarchical porous deep eutectic solvents-modified graphene aerogel (3D DES-GA) was synthesized for use as a solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fiber coating. The SPME fiber was characterized by its fluffy and hierarchical porous structure, uniform thickness, and rapid mass transfer capabilities. This fiber demonstrated a lifetime (≥160 uses) and excellent precision (with relative standard deviations of 2.4-6.6% for single fiber and 6.0-9.8% for fiber-to-fiber repeatability). The SPME fiber also exhibited remarkable extraction performance for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and ...

Intelligent color image analysis of sintered ores for simple and rapid determination of Fe < sub > 3 < /sub > O < sub > 4 < /sub > concentration
Talanta. 2024 Mar 22;274:125985. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125985. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA simple determination of the Fe3O4 concentrations of sintered ores using color images of the samples has been explored. Sintered ore is mainly composed of Fe2O3 (red), Fe3O4 (black), and other white inorganic oxides, so the color of sintered ore could be representative of the relative abundance of the constituents. Two important challenges were addressed to achieve reliable quantitative color image analysis. First, minute dents and bumps (embosses) exist on the sample surface due to inconsistent particle sizes and particle a...

Talanta. 2024 Mar 27;274:125951. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125951. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA new nanozyme (CuGaa) with switchable enzyme-like activity of peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase was successfully prepared based on guanidinoacetic acid and copper. The two enzyme-like activities can be easily switched by changing temperature or adding MnCl2. At 4 °C, polyphenol oxidase-like activity decreased to nearly 1%, and the material is mainly characterized by peroxidase-like activity at this point. However, at 60 °C in the presence of 20 mM MnCl2, the peroxidase-like activity decreased to nearly 10%, and the polyphe...

Talanta. 2024 Mar 13;274:125912. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125912. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe 96 laser-induced multigraphene electrode (96L-MGE) integrated microwell plate (96 L-MGE-MP) is described. Each cell includes separate working, auxiliary, and reference electrodes, and the array sits on a poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA) well. The 96 electrochemical cells were fabricated by laser ablation of polyimide adhesive tape, which created laser-induced graphene electrodes (L-GE). The microwell was produced using laser ablation of the PMMA sheet as well. The morphology and electrochemical characterization of L-GE wer...

Layered assembly of PEGylated graphene oxide and Mg-Al layered double hydroxide nanosheets with superior adsorption capacity and selective isolation of hemoglobin
This study developed a novel organic-inorganic hybrid composite, shortly as GO-PEG-LDHs, by self-assembly of exfoliated Mg-Al layer double hydroxide (LDHs) on the polyethylene glycol (PEG) grafted graphene oxide (GO) to achieve the selective adsorption of hemoglobin (Hb). The prepared GO-PEG-LDHs has a hierarchical structure with a homogeneous loading of exfoliated LDHs nano-sheets on its surface. The adsorption test reveals that GO-PEG-LDHs exhibits an adsorption efficiency of 95.03% for Hb and 3.45% for bovine serum albumin (BSA). The adsorption of Hb follows the Langmuir model, with an ultrahigh adsorption capacity of 5...

Colorimetric biosensor based on aptamer recognition-induced multi-DNA release and peroxidase-mimicking three-way junction DNA-Ag/PtNCs for the detection of Salmonella typhimurium
Talanta. 2024 Mar 24;274:125930. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125930. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSalmonella typhimurium, as a major foodborne pathogen, poses a serious threat to public health safety worldwide. Here, we present a colorimetric biosensor based on aptamer recognition-induced multi-DNA release and peroxidase-mimicking three-way junction DNA-silver/platinum bimetallic nanoclusters (3WJ/DNA-Ag/PtNCs) for the detection of S. typhimurium. In this method, S. typhimurium specifically binds to the aptamer and releases multiple cDNAs to form the three-way junction DNA structure and synthesize silver/platinum bimetall...

One-pot, one-step, label-free miRNA detection method based on the structural transition of dumbbell probe
In this study, we present a one-pot, one-step, label-free miRNA detection method through a structural transition of a specially designed dumbbell-shape probe, initiating a rolling circle transition (RCT). In principle, target miRNA binds to right loop of the dumbbell probe (DP), which allows structural change of the DP to circular form, exposing a sequence complementary to the T7 promoter (T7p) previously hidden within the stem. This exposure allows T7 RNA polymerase to initiate RCT, producing a repetitive Mango aptamer sequence. TO1-biotin, fluorescent dye, binds to the aptamer, inducing a detectable enhancement of fluore...

The linear detection range of the labeled GCE/MNP/GA/ACE2/BSA electrochemical sensor is from 1 pg/mL to 10 μg/mL, with a minimum detection limit of 0.15 pg/mL. Furthermore, the fabricated GCE/MNP/GA/ACE2/BSA sensor achieved satisfactory recoveries of SARS-Co...
