Talanta. 2024 Mar 26;274:125940. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125940. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDopamine, the main catecholamine neurotransmitter plays an important role in renal, cardiovascular, central nervous systems, and pathophysiological processes. The abnormal dopamine levels can result in neurological disorders such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, acute anxiety, neuroblastoma and also contribute to cognitive dysfunctions. Given the widespread importance of dopamine concentration levels, it is imperative to develop sensors that are able to monitor dopamine. Herein, we have developed pre-anodized dispo...

Talanta. 2024 Mar 26;274:125962. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125962. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe importance of water in all biological processes is undeniable. Ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water is crucial for maintaining sustainable water resources. To elaborate, the consumption of water of inadequate quality can have a repercussion on human health. Furthermore, according to the instability of tap water quality, the consumption rate of bottled water is increasing every day at the global level. Although most people believe bottled water is safe, it can also be contaminated by microbiological or chemical...

Sensitive and label-free SPR biosensing platforms for high-throughput screening of plasma membrane receptors interactions with insulin-like targets of hypoglycaemic activity
Talanta. 2024 Mar 26;274:125914. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125914. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTProgress in medical sciences aims for tailored therapy of civilization diseases like diabetes. Preclinical screening of new medicines superior to insulin should include the verification of their affinity to the membrane receptors naturally stimulated by this hormone: insulin receptor isoforms A and B and insulin-like growth factor receptor. Considering that the affinity constants obtained using different experimental conditions are incomparable, it is essential to develop a robust and reliable method to analyze these interact...

Ag-modified CuO cavity arrays as a SERS-electrochemical dual signal platform for thiram detection
Talanta. 2024 Mar 23;274:125989. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125989. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRapid and sensitive determination of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables is critical for human health and ecosystems. This paper used an Ag-modified CuO sphere-cavity array (CuO@Ag) electrode as a thiram SERS/electrochemical dual readout detection platform. Numerous Raman "hotspots" generated by uniformly distributed silver nanoparticles, charge transfer at the CuO@Ag interface, and the formation of Ag-thiram complexes contribute to the significant enhancement of this SERS substrate, which results in excellent SERS pe...

Detection of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase activity based on self-mediated nucleic acid elongation and elemental labeling inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry
Talanta. 2024 Mar 22;274:125979. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125979. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTerminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT), a specialized DNA polymerase, is recognized as a promising biomarker for acute leukemia. Herein, taking the advantage of the self-mediated strand elongation property of TdT, a simple and sensitive method for TdT activity assay was developed based on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) labeling inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). In the presence of TdT, the primer DNA on magnetic beads is elongated with an adenine-rich single stranded long chain that can label poly-thymine...

An array of femtoliter wells for sensitive detection of copper using click chemistry
In this study, we present a highly sensitive method for measuring Cu2+ in an array of femtoliter wells. In brief, magnetic beads (MBs) modified with alkyne groups were bound to the azide groups of biotin-PEG3-azide (bio-PEG-N3) via Cu+-catalyzed click chemistry. Cu+ in the click chemistry reaction was generated by reducing Cu2+ with sodium ascorbate. Following the ligation, the surface of the MBs was modified with biotin, which could be labeled with streptavidin-β-galactosidase (SβG). The MBs complex was then suspended in β-galactosidase substrate fluorescein-di-β-d-galactopyranoside (FDG), and loaded into the array of...

Confinement-enhanced electrochemiluminescence by Ru(dcbpy) < sub > 3 < /sub > < sup > 2+ < /sup > -functionalized γ-CD-MOF@COF-LZU1 porous hybrid material as micro-reactor for CYFRA 21-1 detection
Talanta. 2024 Mar 26;273:125959. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125959. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe improvement of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) performance relies on the electron transfer efficiency between luminophore and coreactant. An ultrasensitive ECL micro-reactor with confinement-enhanced performance was prepared by using the covalent organic framework-LZU1-functionalized metal-organic framework (MOF@COF-LZU1) as a platform to assemble enormous N,N-dibutyl-2-hydroxyethylamine (DBAE) and tris(4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridyl) ruthenium(II) [Ru(dcbpy)32+] into its pore channels. Compared to individual substa...

Kinetic detection of hydrogen peroxide in single horseradish peroxidase-concentrated silica particle using confocal fluorescence microspectroscopic measurement
Talanta. 2024 Mar 16;273:125925. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125925. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn the present study, we propose a scheme for detecting H2O2 by using horseradish peroxidase (HRP) adsorbed onto single silica particles and fluorescence microspectroscopy. When the silica particles were immersed in an HRP solution, the HRP concentration in the silica particles increased by a factor of 690 compared to that in the bulk aqueous solution because HRP was adsorbed on the silica surface. When a single particle containing HRP was added to a mixed solution of H2O2 and Amplex Red, fluorescence from resorufin, which wa...

Talanta. 2024 Mar 20;273:125915. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125915. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAflatoxin (AFs) contamination is one of the serious food safety issues. Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is the most common and toxic aflatoxin, which has been classified as a class 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). It is extremely destructive to liver tissue. Developing a convenient and sensitive detection technique is essential. In this paper, we developed a homogeneous dual recognition strategy based electrochemical aptasensor for accurate and sensitive detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) based on the...

Talanta. 2024 Mar 19;273:125957. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2024.125957. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe sensitivity of electrochemical (EC) sensors has been improved through the development of multiple approaches. However, the majority of EC sensors were limited in their practical application by high costs or tedious procedures. Herein, based on ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-Pb2+ complexation reaction, a facile and affordable immunosensor was designed. Pb2+-magnesium silicate hydrate was served as the sensing substrate. The immunorecognition process was carried out in the Eppendorf tube, and antibody-functionalized...
