The use of retraction paste to simplify impression and cementation of ceramic veneers and crowns: 3-year follow-up report
The objective of this paper was to present a clinical case of ceramic veneers and crowns in which a retraction paste was used for gingival displacement during both the impression and cementation stages, with 3 years of follow-up. Treatment planning consisted of the replacement of preexisting crowns and ceramic veneers on the anterior teeth. After finishing the preparations, gingival displacement with Astringent Retraction Paste was performed without anesthesia or the use of cords and the impression was taken. Before cementation of the crowns and veneers, the Astringent Retraction Paste was applied. Avoiding the use of cord...

A nouveau collagen scaffold to simplify lateral augmentation of deficient ridges between natural teeth
This report proposes the use of a collagen scaffold as a core material for guided bone regeneration in the case of a missing tooth between two existing teeth, when there is sufficient bone to place an implant but a horizontal defect is present in the crestal ridge. The tested question is whether a thick, reinforced, resorbable collagen scaffold (Ossix Volumax) can provide a stable basis for restoring the lost volume of a deficient ridge. The regeneration procedure presented with the collagen scaffold resulted in restoration of the lost tissue volume and a favorable lifelike emergence profile for the implant-supported crown...

Graftless sinus floor augmentation with an internal-port implant: long-term experience
Conclusions: The port and screw implant system may allow maxillary sinus augmentation without grafting or bony substitute. This can simplify relatively major surgery, such as a sinus augmentation procedure, to a less invasive procedure and potentially reduce the risk of complications. (Source: Quintessence International)

Regenerative bone potential after sinus floor elevation using various bone graft materials: a systematic review
Conclusions: The present systemic review demonstrated that autologous bone has the best regenerative potential for sinus floor elevation. Combining autologous bone with bone substitutes leads to more matured newly formed bone and better bone graft osseointegration. PRP/plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) combined together with bone graft materials enhances bone formation and vascularization. It might also reduce inflammation and decrease the risk of complications. (Source: Quintessence International)

Zirconia and its novel compositions: What do clinicians need to know?
G üth, Jan-Frederik / Stawarczyk, Bogna / Edelhoff, Daniel / Liebermann, AnjaPage 512 - 520For several years, there has been a clear trend in the dental market towards monolithic tooth-colored restorations. In this context, further developments, particularly in the field of zirconia ceramics, have led to considerable improvement in the materials' optical properties. Modern zirconia materials can be divided into several cohorts, differing from each other with respect to their optical and mechanical properties. The knowledge about indications and limitations of each zirconia cohort is essential for a correct clinical applic...

Decision criteria influencing the therapeutic approach to invasive cervical resorption: a case series
This article is based on four clinical cases. It aims to provide specific clinical and radiologic features that should be considered in order to take the most appropriate decision, when choosing between the internal and the external approaches. It is proposed to base the therapeutic strategy on the accessibility and the size of the portal of entry of the lesion. When the entry point is wide, its extension along the root must also be taken into account. Other important parameters are the circumferential and vertical extents of the lesion in the radicular dentin. Although it is not a determining factor, the pulpal involvemen...
