Effects of Craniosacral Osteopathy in Patients with Peripheral Vestibular Pathology
Conclusion: Craniosacral osteopathy is an effective treatment choice in individuals who have chronic peripheral vestibular pathology. In individuals who have resistant and chronic vestibular pathology, craniosacral osteopathy should be evaluated among the treatment choices.ORL (Source: ORL)

Exceptional Response to PD-1 Blockade as First-Line Therapy in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma
We report a case of an exceptional response to PD-1 blockade as a first-line therapy in a patient with HNSCC and lung cancer. A 59-year-old man presented with cheek swelling and chest pain. He was diagnosed with maxillary sinus carcinoma (squamous cell carcinoma) and lung cancer (non-small-cell lung cancer, not otherwise specified). The maxillary sinus carcinoma was completely resolved after 8 cycles of pembrolizumab. Immune checkpoint blockade warrants further evaluation in previously untreated patients with HNSCC.ORL (Source: ORL)

Clinical Analysis of Laryngeal Spindle Cell Carcinoma
Conclusion: SpCC of the larynx is rare and typically originates in the glottis. Its prognosis is worse than that of laryngeal SCC, and surgery is a reasonable treatment strategy.ORL (Source: ORL)

Predictors of Nodal Metastasis in Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Oral Cavity and Oropharynx
Discussion: MEC of the UADT is an uncommon malignancy. Our findings suggest elective neck dissection should be considered with perineural and lymphovascular invasion, high-grade tumor, and the OP as the primary site.ORL (Source: ORL)

The Atopy Index Inventory: A Brief and Simple Tool to Identify Atopic Patients
Conclusion: The AII has been proven to be a brief, simple and sufficiently accurate tool for screening ENT patients in search of atopic individuals and to allow their clinical management.ORL (Source: ORL)

Interleukin-17A Expression Correlated with the Prognosis of Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps and the Anti-Interleukin-17A Effect in a Murine Nasal Polyps Model
Conclusion: Our results suggest that IL-17A plays a crucial role and may affect the prognosis of CRSwNP. Anti-IL-17A treatment may reduce the formation of polypoid lesions through inhibition of MMP-9 expression.ORL (Source: ORL)

Patient Perception of Swallowing after Thyroidectomy in the Absence of Laryngeal Nerve Injury
Conclusion: There was a prevalence of 42.3% in swallowing complaints on the first postoperative day, regardless of the lesion in the laryngeal innervation, and this prevalence was significantly higher than that prior to the procedure.ORL (Source: ORL)

Radical Tonsillectomy and Superior Pharyngeal Constrictor Anatomy: A Cadaveric and Oncologic Specimen Assessment
Conclusion: Due to the limited width of the SPC muscle, a margin in excess of 2 mm may not be attainable in a transoral radical tonsillectomy. Margin status may be ideally determined by the integrity of the SPC muscle in future oncologic studies, rather than an adequate distance measurement.ORL (Source: ORL)

The Nasoseptal Chondromucosal Flap: A Rigid Reconstructive Technique for Skull Base and Orbital Defects
Conclusion: The cartilaginous support with associated perichondrium adds to the structural integrity of the reconstruction and may serve as an alternative to devascularized autologous grafts or synthetic materials, which may be particularly advantageous in patients with large defects or those requiring adjuvant radiation.ORL (Source: ORL)

Effects of Cochlear Implantation on Tinnitus and Depression
Conclusion: There was a statistically significant decrease in the severity of tinnitus and depression after cochlear implant. As the participants ’ tinnitus level and grade decreased, their depression levels also decreased. Depression levels decreased after the use of a cochlear implant compared to before cochlear implantation. Cochlear implantation is currently used only for hearing restoration. However, cochlear implantation may be used i n rehabilitation for tinnitus in patients with severe hearing loss and in tinnitus patients. In addition cochlear implantation can be a depression rehabilitation method by reducing ti...

Predictive Value of Sudden Olfactory Loss in the Diagnosis of COVID-19
Conclusion: Considering the high frequency of smell loss in non-hospitalized COVID-19 patients, acute olfactory impairment should be recognized as an early symptom of the disease and should be tested for on a regular basis. In contrast to other acute viral smell impairment, COVID-19-associated smell loss seems to be only rarely accompanied by a severely blocked nose.ORL (Source: ORL)

Twenty-Five-Year Outcomes of Treatment of Irreversible Facial Paralysis with Gillies and McLaughlin Techniques
Conclusions: Surgical correction with Gillies or McLaughlin dynamic muscle support techniques yielded good clinical results with high patient satisfaction and should, therefore, be included as a treatment option for facial reanimation of irreversible facial paralysis. Patient age may play a role in treatment outcomes and reoperation and complication rates and should be taken into careful consideration during treatment planning.ORL (Source: ORL)

The p.R206C Mutation in < b > < i > MYO7A < /i > < /b > Leads to Autosomal Dominant Nonsyndromic Hearing Loss
Conclusions and Significance: The recurrent p.R206C variant inMYO7A is pathogenic and is likely in a mutation hot spot or due to a founder effect. Reports of such rare variants in multiple patients or families may facilitate exploitation of its pathogenicity.ORL (Source: ORL)

Is Handedness Associated with the Depth of the Olfactory Sulcus?
Conclusion: Handedness has no major influence on OS depth. The present study confirmed that the right OS is deeper compared to the left OS, possibly indicating a right-sided lateralization of the olfactory system.Implications: The depth of the right OS is larger than that of the left OS. No major effect of handedness was observed.ORL 2020;82:115 –120 (Source: ORL)
