Why do Doctors Miss the Diagnosis of Leptospiral Uveitis? Emergence of New Serovars and Challenges in Diagnosis
CONCLUSIONS: The data suggest a declining sensitivity of MAT and ELISA, possibly due to the emergence of new serovars. Customizing the panel based on local isolates could enhance the performance of MAT. Critical need is the addition of advanced molecular techniques to improve the diagnosis.PMID:38127787 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2291477 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Treatment Adherence Effect on the Visual Acuity of Beh çet's Uveitis Patients
CONCLUSION: Poor treatment adherence in BU patients has a negative effect on final visual acuity outcomes. Moreover, BU patients experience lower QoL and higher rates of depression and anxiety compared to the healthy control group. These findings highlight the importance of addressing treatment adherence and psychological well-being in the management of BU.PMID:38127797 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2288905 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor (MIF) is a Key Player in Dry Eye Disease
CONCLUSION: MIF is a central positive mediator of the inflammatory process in experimental DED, thus, targeting MIF could be used as a novel therapy in ocular surface inflammatory pathologies.PMID:38127798 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2290624 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Bilateral Scleritis with Heterogeneous Etiologies: A Diagnostic Dilemma
CONCLUSION: Retinal detachment may be associated with scleritis, and ANCA testing may not detect GPA in its early stages. Once infection has been excluded, clinicians should not be afraid to use high-dose immunosuppression instead of surgery to treat retinal detachment associated with scleritis.PMID:38127820 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2288212 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Leptospiral Uveitis: Case Series and Review of Literature
CONCLUSION: Leptospiral uveitis is an under-reported entity. It may present as anterior uveitis or panuveitis. It must be included in the differential diagnosis of non-granulomatous uveitis. The visual prognosis is usually favorable even in severe cases.PMID:38128077 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2296037 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Intracameral Fibrinous Reaction During Descemet's Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty
CONCLUSION: Fibrinous reaction is a rare intraoperative complication of DMEK that interferes with graft unfolding and results in poor outcomes. Anticoagulant use appears to be a risk factor and may be compounded by surgical trauma to vascular tissues and prolonged surgical maneuvers.PMID:38109198 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2287057 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Molecular Analysis of Liquid Vitreous Biopsy Reveals Occult Lymphoma Following Cytology-Negative Biopsies of the Brain and Vitreous
CONCLUSION: This case illustrates the unique contribution of liquid biopsy neuropathology-oriented molecular testing in a challenging case with high clinical suspicion of PCNSL in which gold-standard diagnostic testing failed to yield a diagnosis.PMID:38109211 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2287061 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Roles of Sphingosine Kinase and Sphingosine-1-Phosphate Receptor 2 in Endotoxin-Induced Acute Retinal Inflammation
CONCLUSION: SphK1/S1P/S1PR2 signaling was upregulated in EIU and S1PR2 inhibition suppressed inflammatory response.
