Demographic and Clinical Characteristics of Uveitis for Adult Patients Attending Mansoura Ophthalmic Center
CONCLUSIONS: This study conclusively indicates that anterior uveitis is the predominant anatomical type of uveitis in Egypt. Further, etiological diagnoses of uveitis should particularly emphasize Behçet's disease, VKH syndrome, and ankylosing spondylitis.PMID:38133948 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2294367 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Colombian Ocular Inflammatory Diseases Epidemiology Study (COIDES): Optic Neuritis Incidence Between 2015-2020
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of ON in Colombia is lower compared to countries in the northern hemisphere, with women under 50 years being predominantly affected. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic corresponded with a reduction in identifying new ON cases. This underscores governments' need to implement effective diagnostic strategies in the future.PMID:38133944 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2295538 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Characteristics, Etiologies, and Outcomes of Peripheral Ulcerative Keratitis in a Tertiary Referral Hospital in Thailand: A 10-Year Study
CONCLUSION: Nearly half of PUK cases are associated with several systemic causes. Accordingly, careful physical examination and investigation are important. Unilateral lesions could serve as potential risk factors in identifying patients at risk of thinning and perforation, which could prevent further damage to the eye and vision loss.PMID:38133946 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2296069 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Ocular Toxocariasis in Adult Caucasian Patients: Clinical Presentations and Treatment Outcomes
CONCLUSION: OT has no pathognomonic sign and atypical presentations were not infrequent in this adult Caucasian cohort. Serum antibodies were rarely positive, stressing on the importance of ocular sample analysis, especially in case of atypical features. Serum antibodies may prove useful in forecasting the rapidity of inflammation clearance. Antiparasitic and anti-inflammatory treatment was safe and efficient in most cases.PMID:38133947 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2295530 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Why do Doctors Miss the Diagnosis of Leptospiral Uveitis? Emergence of New Serovars and Challenges in Diagnosis
CONCLUSIONS: The data suggest a declining sensitivity of MAT and ELISA, possibly due to the emergence of new serovars. Customizing the panel based on local isolates could enhance the performance of MAT. Critical need is the addition of advanced molecular techniques to improve the diagnosis.PMID:38127787 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2291477 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Treatment Adherence Effect on the Visual Acuity of Beh çet's Uveitis Patients
CONCLUSION: Poor treatment adherence in BU patients has a negative effect on final visual acuity outcomes. Moreover, BU patients experience lower QoL and higher rates of depression and anxiety compared to the healthy control group. These findings highlight the importance of addressing treatment adherence and psychological well-being in the management of BU.PMID:38127797 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2288905 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)
