Morphology, Histology, and Transcriptome Analysis of Gonadal Development in Octopus minor (Sasaki, 1920)
In this study, we investigated the annual changes in total body weight (TW), gonad somatic index (GSI), gonadal histological features, and transcriptome of O. minor. The results indicated that both females and males showed a similar TW trend. The GSI peaked in June in females, while it remained constant at around 3% in males. Nine and four histological stages were observed in ovaries and testes, respectively. Our field sampling results implied that O. minor might have overwintering periods for both eggs and larvae. Transcriptome analysis revealed that a total of 1095 and 2468 genes were significantly expressed during ovari...

Muscle Transcriptome Sequencing Revealed Thermal Stress-Responsive Regulatory Genes in Farmed Rohu, Labeo rohita (Hamilton, 1822)
This study identified the key biomarker SERPINE1 (HSP47), which showed significant upregulation (~ 2- to threefold) in muscle tissue of rohu exposed to high temperature. This study can pave a path for the identification of stress-responsive biomarkers linked with thermal adaptations in the farmed carps.PMID:37878212 | DOI:10.1007/s10126-023-10259-8 (Source: Marine Biotechnology)

DNA Methylation Profiling of Ovarian Tissue of Climbing Perch (Anabas testudienus) in Response to Monocrotophos Exposure
This study revealed a molecular-level alteration in genes associated with ovarian development in response to chemical exposure. This work provides evidence for understanding the relationship between DNA methylation and gene regulation in response to chemicals that affect the reproductive fitness of aquatic animals.PMID:37870741 | DOI:10.1007/s10126-023-10264-x (Source: Marine Biotechnology)

Comparative Transcriptome and WGCNA Analysis Reveal Molecular Responses to Salinity Change in Larvae of the Iwagaki Oyster Crassostrea Nippona
In this study, we compared the transcriptome of Crassostrea nippona larvae under variant conditions with low-salinity stress (28, 20, 15, 10, and 5 practical salinity units (psu)) for 24 h. KEGG enrichment analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) from pairwise comparisons identified several free amino acid metabolism pathway (taurine and hypotaurine, arginine and proline, glycine, and beta-alanine) contributing to the salinity change adaptation and activated "lysosome" and "apoptosis" pathway in response to the low-salinity stress (10 and 5 psu). Trend analysis revealed sustained upregulation of transmembrane tran...
