Characteristics and Complete Genome Analysis of a Pathogenic Aeromonas Veronii SJ4 from Diseased Siniperca Chuatsi
Mar Biotechnol (NY). 2023 Nov 10. doi: 10.1007/s10126-023-10253-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs an opportunistic pathogen, Aeromonas veronii can cause hemorrhagic septicemia of various aquatic animals. In our present study, a dominant strain SJ4, isolated from naturally infected mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi), was identified as A. veronii according to the morphological, physiological, and biochemical features, as well as molecular identification. Intraperitoneal injection of A. veronii SJ4 into S. chuatsi revealed clinical signs similar to the natural infection, and the median lethal dosage (LD50) of the SJ4 to S. c...

Acute Salinity Stress Disrupts Gut Microbiota Homeostasis and Reduces Network Connectivity and Cooperation in Razor Clam Sinonovacula constricta
Mar Biotechnol (NY). 2023 Nov 9. doi: 10.1007/s10126-023-10267-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAccumulating evidence demonstrates that it is of great importance to maintain a stable and functional gut microbial community for host's growth and health. However, gut microenvironment is constantly affected by diverse environmental factors. Salinity can cause stress, including hypersaline or hyposaline stress to aquatic species, thereby affecting their growth conditions. Razor clam (Sinonovacula constricta), an economically important bivalve species, inhabits in intertidal and estuarine zones and constantly experiences salinit...

Muscle Transcriptome Sequencing Revealed Thermal Stress-Responsive Regulatory Genes in Farmed Rohu, Labeo rohita (Hamilton, 1822)
This study identified the key biomarker SERPINE1 (HSP47), which showed significant upregulation (~ 2- to threefold) in muscle tissue of rohu exposed to high temperature. This study can pave a path for the identification of stress-responsive biomarkers linked with thermal adaptations in the farmed carps.PMID:37878212 | DOI:10.1007/s10126-023-10259-8 (Source: Marine Biotechnology)
