Local SAR compression with overestimation control to reduce maximum relative SAR overestimation and improve multi-channel RF array performance
ConclusionThe proposed strategies outperform a previously published strategy and can improve the SAR compression where maximum relative overestimation constrains the performance of parallel transmission. (Source: Magnetic Resonance Materials in Physics, Biology and Medicine)

Validation of multiparametric MRI by histopathology after nephrectomy: a case study
This study aims to validate mpMRI by whole-kidney histology following transplantectomy.Materials and methodsA patient with kidney transplant failure underwent mpMRI prior to transplantectomy. The mpMRI included blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) MRI,T1 andT2 mapping, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), 2D phase contrast (2DPC) and arterial spin labeling (ASL). Parenchymal mpMRI measures were compared to normative values obtained in 19 healthy controls. Differences were expressed in standard deviations (SD) of normative values. The mpMRI measures were compared qualitatively to histology.ResultsThe mpMRI showed a heterog...

Detecting small pulmonary nodules with spiral ultrashort echo time sequences in 1.5  T MRI
This study investigated ultrashort echo time (UTE) sequences in 1.5  T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for small lung nodule detection.Materials and methodsA total of 120 patients with 165 small lung nodules before video-associated thoracoscopic resection were enrolled. MRI sequences included conventional volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination (VIBE, scan time 16  s), spiral UTE (TE 0.05 ms) with free-breathing (scan time 3.5–5 min), and breath-hold sequences (scan time 20 s). Chest CT provided a standard reference for nodule size and morphology. Nodule detection sensitivity was evaluated on a lobe-by-lobe...

Contrast optimization in arterial spin labeling with multiple post-labeling delays for cerebrovascular assessment
ConclusionWe successfully assessed brain perfusion of patients with asymptomatic CAS using multi-PLD ASL with FA sweep. We were able to show subtle individual differences. Moreover, prolonged arterial transit time in patients was observed, although they were considered asymptomatic, suggesting that it may not be an adequate term to characterize them. On the reproducibility of hippocampal MEGA-sLASER GABA MRS at 7T using an optimized analysis pipeline
ConclusionThe increased spectral dispersion of ultra-high-field spectroscopy allows for reproducible spectral quantification, despite a very broad line width. The achieved reproducibility enables the routine use of hippocampal GABA spectroscopy at 7 Tesla. (Source: Magnetic Resonance Materials in Physics, Biology and Medicine)

Routine sagittal whole-spine magnetic resonance imaging in finding incidental spine lesions
ConclusionT2-weighted whole-spine sagittal screening is useful in demonstrating clinically relevant incidental findings in any patients undergoing MRI of the lumbar spine. There is a statistically significant correlation between lumbar spinal stenosis and cervical spinal stenosis with spinal cord compression.
