The Effect of Yoga on Intraocular Pressure Using the "iCare HOME2" Tonometer
CONCLUSION: Our data show that common yoga positions can lead to an acute IOP elevation of up to 31 mmHg in healthy as well as glaucoma eyes, with higher IOP values during head-down positions. Given that IOP peaks are a major risk factor for glaucomatous optic neuropathy, we generally advise glaucoma patients to carefully choose their yoga exercises. If and to what extent practicing yoga leads to glaucoma progression, however, remains unclear and warrants further research.PMID:38653289 | DOI:10.1055/a-2200-3970 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) with Refractive and Diffractive Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) Intraocular Lenses
CONCLUSIONS: With both types of EDOF-IOLs, the majority of patients could perform most of their daily activities without spectacles, except reading, and were highly satisfied with their IOLs. Patients with diffractive Zeiss AT LARA EDOF-IOLs were more likely to accomplish unaided near-range visual tasks; however, they were also at a higher risk of experiencing glares or halos at night.PMID:38653290 | DOI:10.1055/a-2211-8796 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)

Five-Year Risk and Safety Profile of Autologous Serum Eye Drop Therapy
CONCLUSIONS: Serum eye drops are often used in patients with severe or chronic anterior eye diseases with an intrinsic risk of infectious diseases. Despite these preexisting risk factors, autologous serum eye drops can be considered safe, even in patients with a compromised ocular surface.PMID:38653292 | DOI:10.1055/a-2244-6285 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)

A Novel Technique of Aseptic Manufacture of Autologous Serum Eye Drops (ASEDs) and Sterility Analysis of the Bottled Ophtioles
CONCLUSIONS: The combination of upstream sterile filtration with a commercial closed system for manufacturing ASEDs proved to be effective in ensuring sterility without any contamination over the past 4 years. This is becoming crucial, as the demand for autologous blood products for treating ocular surface disorders, such as refractory dry eyes or nonhealing defects of the corneal epithelium, is on the rise.PMID:38653293 | DOI:10.1055/a-2249-0056 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)

Severe Conjunctival and Corneal Epithelial Dysplasia: A Case Series
CONCLUSION: The clinical presentation of OSSN is highly heterogenous, so that the initial diagnosis is difficult. There are no official guidelines for treatment, so that the treatment of choice varied between clinics. Regular ophthalmological follow-ups are recommended, even after complete surgical excision. Possible relevant concomitant diseases and risk factors must be identified before therapy.PMID:38653294 | DOI:10.1055/a-2202-3379 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)

National Consensus on Contraindications for Corneal Donation for Transplantation in Switzerland
CONCLUSION: Given that corneal transplantation is the most commonly performed transplantation, establishing a consensus on contraindications is crucial for recipient safety. The creation of a consensus on contraindications for corneal donation in Switzerland is an essential contribution to fulfil the legal requirements concerning quality assurance and provides sufficient high-quality donor tissue within the country. Therefore, periodic review and revision of the consensus is considered critical.PMID:38653295 | DOI:10.1055/a-2211-9614 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)
