Examining One-Star Reviews in Orthopaedic Hand Surgeons in Large U.S. Cities
Discussion Most one-star reviews regarding orthopaedic-trained hand surgeons referenced nonclinical components—bedside manner was the most common complaint. It was determined that surgical patients were less likely to leave a one-star review; however, if they did, the most common complaint was in reference to a disagreement with the physician's decision or uncontrolled pain postoperatively. Type of Study Outcomes 2c. The Complication and Safety Profile of Utilizing Kirschner Wires in Four Corner Fusions
Conclusion 4CF utilizing K-wire fixation is a reproducible and cost-effective technique that results in good patient outcomes including bony union and functional wrist ROM. Smoking and diabetes did not significantly increase the risk of nonunion, and K-wire fixation can successfully be used in these patient populations. Clinical and Socioeconomic Effects of Misdiagnosed Wrist Ligament Injuries
J Wrist Surg DOI: 10.1055/s-0043-1776342 Purpose Misdiagnosed and maltreated wrist ligament injuries (scapholunate [SL], lunotriquetral, and triangular fibrocartilage complex [TFCC]) filed to the Swedish National Patient Insurance Company (LÖF [“regionernas ömsesidiga försäkringsbolag”]) 2011 to 2018 were analyzed in terms of complications and costs for society. Methods All filed claims are database registered. The database was assessed in June 2019 through injury International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision-SWE diagnoses. Demographics, reasons for avoidance, type of complication, and costs ...

Suture-Based Distal Radioulnar Joint Stabilization: A Biomechanical Evaluation in a Cadaveric Model
Conclusions For acute DRUJ instability, the described SBS technique provides similar stability to the native intact DRUJ without compromising the range of motion in a cadaveric model. Future comparative studies are warranted prior to translation into the clinical arena. Clinical Relevance This is a biomechanical study investigating a treatment technique for acute DRUJ instability that would allow an early range of motion. Arthroscopic Treatment of Traumatic Isolated Volar Dislocation of the Distal Radioulnar Joint: Case Report and Management Proposal
Conclusion We indicate the use of arthroscopy in patients with irreducible isolated volar dislocation, with subacute or chronic presentation, who have to be managed in the operating room. It is a useful method for diagnosing and repairing the TFC injury. This will prevent possible complications and provide faster recovery, mainly reducing the time of immobilization. Simplifying the Decision-Making Process in the Treatment of Kienb öck's Disease
Conclusion KD is a rare condition, and there is a lack of comparative studies to help us choose the preferred treatment. The decision on the management options in adult KD may be made by determining the integrity of the lunate cortex and deciding whether the lunate is salvageable or not by CT scan. MRI may provide useful information on the vascular status if the lunate cortex is intact, and the lunate is salvageable. If the lunate is fragmented, it is not salvageable, and MRI does not provide useful information. Arthroscopy has a role in selective cases. Outcomes in Patients with Bilateral Distal Radius Fractures
Conclusion Bilateral DRFs appear to have a similar bimodal age distribution to unilateral DRF. Younger patients undergo nonoperative management more commonly than operative or mixed management. Age Considerations in Four-Corner Arthrodesis and Proximal Row Carpectomy: A Review
Conclusion Despite satisfactory results for 4CA in aggregate, the distribution of scores indicates the need for setting expectations when treating younger adult patients with 4CA. The current results demonstrate increased disability based on DASH score following 4CA in patients under 45 years compared with patients over 45 years. Although outcomes were comparable between younger and older adults following PRC, recovery of grip strength may occur less frequently in younger adults. Level of evidence IV systematic review.
