Three Column Fixation Through a Single Incision in Distal Radius Fractures
Conclusion Open reduction and internal fixation, under specific indications, is the best treatment option in DRF. The described technique provides excellent visualization to the distal radius surfaces and allows the internal fixation of the radial columns through the same skin incision. Therefore, it can constitute an efficient choice in the treatment armamentarium of DRF. Treatment of First Carpometacarpal Osteoarthritis with Arthroscopy: A Systematic Review
Conclusions The existing literature describes a predominantly female population with Eaton-Littler stage II and III disease. In the subgroup analysis, arthroscopic techniques involving a trapeziectomy seem to be more effective at lowering pain scores compared to techniques involving debridement alone. Likewise, interposition and suspension techniques may show improved outcomes compared to techniques involving trapeziectomy alone. Level of evidence This is a Level III study. Using a Dedicated Extremity MRI Scanner for Depicting Anatomic Structures of Common Wrist Pathologies: A Pilot Comparison with a 3-Tesla MRI Scanner
Conclusion For defining the real clinical value of the dedicated MRI scanner in the treatment of hand and wrist pathology, studies focused on pathologies are needed, which is certainly warranted, considering the important benefits of these devices including lower costs and higher accessibility for both patients and health care providers. Conservative Management of Kienbock's Disease in a 7-year old: A Case Report
We report the youngest case of Lichtman stage I Kienbock's disease successfully treated with conservative management resulting in clinical and imaging resolution. Younger patients may be able to successfully remodel and recover from Kienbock disease with extended time in conservative management. Outcomes following Distal Radioulnar Joint Arthroplasty in the Setting of Total or Partial Wrist Fusion
Conclusions DRUJ replacement resulted in improved pain scores and Mayo wrist scores in the majority of patients; however, the combination of primary DRUJ arthroplasty and total wrist fusion was associated with high complication rates. Surgeons should be aware of the high complication rate seen with DRUJ arthroplasty when combined with total wrist fusion. Volar Lunate Facet Fractures of the Distal Radius: Fracture Mapping Using 3D CT Scans
Conclusion Lunate facet fractures are frequently comprised of osteoligamentous units of the distal radius involving the short and long radiolunate ligaments and the radioscaphocapitate ligament. Assessment and management of volar carpal subluxation, scapholunate instability, ulnar translocation, and DRUJ instability should be considered. Clinical relevance Our mapping of these fractures contributes to our understanding of the anatomy and associated instabilities and will aid in surgical planning and decision making.
