Developing and piloting a serious game to educate children about over ‐the‐counter medication safety
ConclusionThis pilot suggests that a serious game may influence participants ’ knowledge and attitude about OTC medication safety. Further research is needed to examine the potential of using serious games to teach children about safe medication use and negative consequences of inappropriate use. Patient safety practices among community pharmacists in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
ConclusionThe study illustrated that the documentation of mistakes should be encouraged among the pharmacists, and some procedures should be implemented in order to reduce the communication barriers with patients, and a better allocation of the staff. These implementations will help to support the patient safety practice among pharmacists. Some items showed a difference between junior and senior pharmacists in an overall rating of patient safety (P‐value 0.019), and making the pharmacy better in trying to prevent mistakes (P‐value 0.022). ConclusionsKnowledge of PGx testing among physicians was moderate despite the expressed needs and favourable attitudes. Collaborative efforts to address the potential inhibitors may foster the integration of PGx testing into clinical practice. However, the limited access to information on the stability, efficacy and safety of extemporaneous products may potentially expose patients to harm. Assessment of patient satisfaction following pharmacist counselling session by a novel patient satisfaction feedback on counselling questionnaire
ConclusionPatients appeared satisfied with counselling. Age, education, comorbidity, illness type and duration, health insurance, number of medicines prescribed, urban residence and previous counselling exposure were determinants of patient satisfaction. Most notable finding was patients' willingness to pay for counselling should this service be charged that increased with patient satisfaction.
