Health expenditure and health services utilization comparison of patients with type 2 diabetes on sodium –glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors versus dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitors: evidence from 2015 to 2016 medical expenditure panel survey
ConclusionSGLT2 inhibitors were associated with significantly higher overall and prescription expenditures compared to DPP4 inhibitors during the study period evaluated. Cost analysis and utilization of antihypertensive drug therapy in Saudi Arabia
ConclusionOur study suggested that the prescription pattern of drugs used for the treatment of hypertension adhered with the JNC 8 guidelines. Monotherapy was reliably more recommended in the initial stages of hypertension. Higher percentage of patients (78.32%) was found to be on monotherapy. Use and non ‐use of a nationwide patient portal – a survey among pharmacy customers
ConclusionsMost Finnish pharmacy customers use the My Kanta nationwide patient portal. The strongest predictors for use are factors related to internet use. Some pharmacy customers do not use My Kanta despite having the necessary means. The main reason for non ‐use is a lack of need. ConclusionIn our study, among all the PPIs Pantoprazole was prescribed to the highest number of patients also it was costliest; hence, their safe and effective use must be warranted. Cost ‐effectiveness analysis of olanzapine and risperidone in schizophrenic patients in the Indian healthcare settings of Andhra Pradesh, India
ConclusionThe results showed that olanzapine was a cost ‐effective drug and an alternative to risperidone in the Indian healthcare settings. With further revision and validation, the cost‐effectiveness outcome of olanzapine and risperidone can be used to inform any comprehensive healthcare financing mechanism in Indian healthcare settings. Academic detailing program for rheumatoid arthritis: a contribution to Brazilian public health system sustainability
ConclusionThe prescribers visited represent a large number of deferrals for the Specialized Component of Pharmaceutical Care (CEAF) drug applications. Therefore, the total amount spent on the implementation of this program and its potential for improving access to these medicines has the possibility to have a positive impact on the targeting of public expenditures and avoiding litigation against NHS. Public perception of generic medicines in Malta
ConclusionsParticipants in this study exhibited a positive overall perception regarding generic medicines, demonstrating improvement in perception from a previous local study. The majority of participants were knowledgeable about generic medicines, had previously used generic medicines and would switch to a generic medicine if the originator product was not in stock. Risk management in community pharmacy practice in Abu Dhabi Region: a cross ‐sectional study
ConclusionsDifferent types of clinical and non ‐clinical risk in pharmacy practice were identified, and risk mitigation techniques were proposed. A positive attitude of community pharmacists was observed towards identifies risks and on the suggested mitigation techniques. It is necessary to publish a universally referenced validated risk facto r list for evaluating current risk management plans to maintain safe pharmacy practices and include management courses within pharmacy curriculum.
