Botulinum Toxin Induced Parotitis: A Postoperative Complication Following Masseter Muscle Injection
Botulinum toxin (BTX) injection is a common treatment for bruxism, but there is no literature on potential salivary gland complications. This paper presents a case of acute parotitis in a 60-year-old female following BTX injections to the masseter muscle. This case highlights the possible salivary gland complication after injection of BTX into the masticatory muscles. An electronic search of PubMed and Embase databases was conducted to create a literature review in order to delve into the etiology behind the presented case and suggest potential preventive measures to avoid salivary gland complications. Pediatric Trauma During COVID-19: What Have We Learned?
In December 2019, an outbreak of a novel pneumonia-like illness, COVID-19 (C-19), emerged in Wuhan, China. In March 2020, as the incidence of C-19 rose, the Israeli government, like that of other nations, declared a national state of emergency, and a full, general lockdown was announced. Is insurance payer associated with hospital admission of emergency department patients with mandible fractures?
There is a lack of consensus on the optimal triage pathway for emergency department (ED) patients with mandibular fractures. It remains unclear if patient insurance payer predicts hospital admission given potentially competing logistical and health systems incentives. (Source: Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery)

Mannitol reduces pain and trismus after impacted mandibular third molar surgery
The removal of the lower third molar is a routine procedure in oral surgery , yet it often leads to postoperative side effects, particularly inflammation.Despite various interventions explored in prior studies, there is still a need for effective strategies, such as anti-inflammatory substances, to address postoperative side effects. Needle therapy: A minimally invasive therapeutic concept as part of temporomandibular single-portal arthroscopy
The transition from a single portal to a double portal can be complex, necessitating time and training to minimize complications that rely on the operator ’s skill. Needle-therapy is a simple method for treating symptoms that has several benefits. Consequently, this innovative strategy aims to introduce an intermediate technique that enables surgeons to perform therapeutic procedures during single-port arthroscopy. Surgical Management of a Traumatic Retropharyngeal Hematoma in a Patient on Dual Antiplatelet Therapy: A Case Report
The authors present a case report of a 73-year-old male on dual anti-platelet therapy with a retropharyngeal hematoma after a motor vehicle accident. We highlight the clinical, radiographic manifestations, and surgical management of retropharyngeal hematomas, especially on an initially asymptomatic patient. Additionally, we demonstrate the importance of establishing a secure airway early on, and multidisciplinary collaboration to maximize patient outcomes.
