Long-Term Visual Quality and Pupil Changes after Small-Incision Lenticule Extraction for Eyes without Preoperative Cylinder Refraction
CONCLUSION: Slight cylinder regression was observed with thicker corneal lenticular extraction after SMILE correction of nonastigmatic eyes 30 months postoperatively. This regression was mainly because of the axis changes in anterior corneal astigmatism power. Therefore, a cylinder nomogram modification of 0.25 to 0.50 D is considerable for correcting nonastigmatic myopic eyes with a predicted spherical lenticular thickness over 100 µm.PMID:38282962 | PMC:PMC10821807 | DOI:10.1155/2024/8835585 (Source: Journal of Ophthalmology)

Accommodation and Binocular Vision in Children with Myopic Anisometropia
CONCLUSION: Our results suggested that with the increase of anisometropia, distance and near heterophoria, AR, AMP, and near stereopsis had a tendency to get worse in children with myopic anisometropia.PMID:38264273 | PMC:PMC10805551 | DOI:10.1155/2024/6525136 (Source: Journal of Ophthalmology)

Changes in Corneal Higher-Order Aberrations and Ocular Biometric Measurements after Phacoemulsification Combined with Goniosynechialysis in Primary Angle Closure/Glaucoma Patients
CONCLUSIONS: Phaco-GSL resulted in an increased corneal HOAs, particularly trefoil, with variations based on the patient's AL. Patients with normal ALs tended to shift towards hyperopia after surgery.PMID:38250183 | PMC:PMC10798839 | DOI:10.1155/2024/5833543 (Source: Journal of Ophthalmology)

Corneal Epithelial Thickness Mapping: A Major Review
J Ophthalmol. 2024 Jan 2;2024:6674747. doi: 10.1155/2024/6674747. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTThe corneal epithelium (CE) is the outermost layer of the cornea with constant turnover, relative stability, remarkable plasticity, and compensatory properties to mask alterations in the underlying stroma. The advent of quantitative imaging modalities capable of producing epithelial thickness mapping (ETM) has made it possible to characterize better the different patterns of epithelial remodeling. In this comprehensive synthesis, we reviewed all available data on ETM with different methods, including very high-frequency ultrasound (V...

Modulation of Hypoxia-Inducible Factors and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Expressions by Superfood Camu-Camu ( < em > Myrciaria dubia < /em > ) Treatment in ARPE-19 and Fetal Human RPE Cells
CONCLUSION: The camu-camu extract suppressed the activation of HIF and VEGF in RPE cells. This could assist anti-VEGF therapy in patients with abnormal ocular neovascularization.PMID:38187496 | PMC:PMC10771337 | DOI:10.1155/2023/6617981 (Source: Journal of Ophthalmology)
