Predicting solute transfer rate in patients initiating peritoneal dialysis
CONCLUSIONS: An equation based on simple clinical variables allows ruling out fast transport in a significant proportion of patients initiating PD with a high degree of confidence without requiring dialysate sampling. Successful wound healing by autologous peripheral blood mononuclear cell therapy in a diabetic patient on hemodialysis with no-option critical limb ischemia: a case report
We report on a limb salvage approach that was successfully employed in a 74-year-old woman on hemodialysis suffering from no-option critical limb ischemia complicated by diabetic foot infection, i.e. otherwise a candidate for major amputation. The approach consists in implanting in the wound bed of the affected limb a concentrate of autologous peripheral blood mononuclear cells collected from the peripheral blood of the patient using a selective filtration separation system. Blood transfusion reactions and risk of acute kidney injury and major adverse kidney events

Outcome of atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome: role of triggers and complement abnormalities in the response to C5 inhibition

Sarcopenia diagnosed by ultrasound-assessed quadriceps muscle thickness and handgrip strength predicts mortality in patients on hemodialysis
CONCLUSION: When combined with low handgrip strength, low quadriceps muscle US outperformed low lean tissue index as assessed by bioimpedance spectroscopy in predicting mortality in a cohort of patients on maintenance HD. Acetazolamide for acute kidney injury in patients undergoing high dose methotrexate therapy: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review showed no significant difference between acetazolamide and standard care treatment regarding urine alkalinization time and AKI rate in adult patients receiving high dose methotrexate.
