Improving outcomes in atherosclerotic renovascular disease: importance of clinical presentation and multi-disciplinary review
CONCLUSIONS: Multi-disciplinary team discussion successfully identified a group of patients more likely to benefit from revascularization based on 3 key factors: clinical presentation, severity of the renal artery lesion and the state of the kidney beyond the stenotic lesion. In this way, a large proportion of patients can clinically improve after revascularization if their outcomes are considered according to the nature of their clinical presentation.PMID:38594599 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-024-01902-1 (Source: Journal of Nephrology)

Hemodynamics in nutcracker syndrome: implications for diagnosis
CONCLUSIONS: Using computational fluid dynamics as a non-invasive instrument to obtain the hemodynamic characteristics of nutcracker syndrome is feasible and could provide insights into the pathological mechanisms of the nutcracker syndrome supporting clinicians in diagnosis.PMID:38594600 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-024-01894-y (Source: Journal of Nephrology)

Association of kidney function with physical performance: the Maastricht study
CONCLUSIONS: Reduced eGFR and higher albuminuria levels were associated with worse physical performance, especially shorter 6-min walk distance and lower muscle strength. The relationship between eGFR and physical function was non-linear, with also high eGFR values being associated with worse performance, especially in the six-minute walk test.PMID:38594601 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-024-01933-8 (Source: Journal of Nephrology)

A real-world exploration into clinical outcomes of direct oral anticoagulant therapy in people with chronic kidney disease: a large hospital-based study
CONCLUSIONS: A positive effect of DOAC therapy was observed in advanced CKD. Key factors influencing clinical outcomes following DOAC administration in patients in different stages of CKD were identified. These are crucial for designing more advanced studies to explore safer and more effective DOAC therapy for the population.PMID:38564072 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-024-01930-x (Source: Journal of Nephrology)
