The prognostic value of two histopathologic classification models of ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis: a prospective study
CONCLUSION: Both methods were able to predict short-term renal function outcome and need for hemodialysis, but the Renal Risk Score showed significant superiority in predicting renal function outcome and ESKD after long-term follow up.PMID:38345685 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-023-01855-x (Source: Journal of Nephrology)

Evaluation of risk stratification for acute kidney injury: a comparative analysis of EKFC, 2009 and 2021 CKD-EPI glomerular filtration estimating equations
CONCLUSION: Regarding AKI risk stratification, the 2009 CKD-EPIcr equation showed better discriminative performance compared to the 2021 CKD-EPIcr equation in the study population.PMID:38345686 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-023-01883-7 (Source: Journal of Nephrology)

Patient activation in advanced chronic kidney disease: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: Patient activation levels are low in people with CKD stage 5 not receiving dialysis suggesting limited ability for self-management and capacity for optimally informed decisions about their healthcare. Efforts to improve patient activation need to consider age and education level.PMID:38345687 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-023-01847-x (Source: Journal of Nephrology)

Estimated glomerular filtration rate in observational and interventional studies in chronic kidney disease
J Nephrol. 2024 Feb 12. doi: 10.1007/s40620-024-01887-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEstimated glomerular filtration rate is considered the principal measure of kidney function and, together with albuminuria, is a relevant prognostic factor for the development of end-stage kidney disease. Due to the strong association between estimated glomerular filtration rate and clinical events, such as commencement of dialysis, cardiovascular outcomes and all-cause death, estimated glomerular filtration rate is crucial for clinical decision-making in terms of scheduling follow-up and pharmacological interventions, and planning renal...
