Intranasal corticosteroids reduced acute rhinosinusitis in children with allergic rhinitis: A nested case-control study
CONCLUSIONS: Treatment of INCS with and without SGH diminished the risk of acute rhinosinusitis compared with treatment using SGH alone. Adequate INCS treatment for patients with AR is important to reduce the incidence of acute rhinosinusitis.PMID:38065768 | DOI:10.1016/j.jmii.2023.11.005 (Source: Journal of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infection)

Clinical and molecular predictors of mortality in patients with carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii bacteremia: A retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical factors such as hemodialysis due to acute renal injury and moderate to severe thrombocytopenia have a greater influence on mortality in CRAB bacteremia compared with microbiological factors.PMID:38057202 | DOI:10.1016/j.jmii.2023.11.001 (Source: Journal of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infection)

Risk factors and mortality of SARS-CoV-2 reinfection during the Omicron era in Taiwan: A nationwide population-based cohort study
CONCLUSION: During the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron era, reinfection patients were observed to have an increased risk of all-cause mortality. To reduce the disease burden and minimize the risk of reinfection, it is crucial for vulnerable patients to receive full vaccination and adhere to recommended precautions.PMID:37978019 | DOI:10.1016/j.jmii.2023.10.013 (Source: Journal of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infection)
