Twenty-Four-Month Outcome of Gonioscopy-Assisted Transluminal Trabeculotomy (GATT) in Eyes With Prior Corneal Transplant Surgery
Purpose: Glaucoma is a well-known sequelae of corneal transplant surgery and is a leading cause of visual loss in this patient group. We evaluated the performance and safety of gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) in this population. Design: Noncomparative retrospective case series. Participants: Consecutive eyes of patients receiving the GATT procedure for uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) following corneal transplant surgery from 2016 to 2019. Methods: Retrospective analysis of eyes with a history of prior corneal transplant undergoing GATT at Glaucoma Associates of Texas b...

Surgical Outcomes of Visco-Circumferential-Suture-Trabeculotomy Versus Rigid Probe Trabeculotomy in Primary Congenital Glaucoma: A 3-Year Randomized Controlled Study
Purpose: The aim was to compare the long-term surgical outcomes of visco-circumferential-suture-trabeculotomy (VCST) and rigid probe viscotrabeculotomy (VT) in patients with primary congenital glaucoma (PCG). Patients and Methods: The study was conducted on 84 (47 right) eyes of 49 (32 males) children PCG to the pediatric ophthalmology unit of Mansoura Ophthalmic Center of Mansoura University, Egypt between 2015 and 2018. An initial office examination was followed by an examination under general anesthesia to establish the diagnosis of PCG. The children were then scheduled for surgery and the eyes randomly assig...

Long Anterior Zonules and Angle Closure Disease
Précis: Angle closure disease was present in 59.3% of eyes with long anterior zonules (LAZ). The cause is multifactorial including a thick anteriorly positioned crystalline lens, shorter axial length, and increased lens thickness to axial length factor. Purpose: To study the profile of eyes with LAZ presenting in a glaucoma clinic in a tertiary eye care centre and understand the pathogenesis of angle closure disease in these eyes. Methods: This was a retrospective cross-sectional study. All patients with LAZ seen from January 2014 to December 2018 were included. Demographic and clinical characteristic...

Prevalence of Anxiety and Depression in Patients With Primary Glaucoma in Western India
Précis: Glaucoma can cause disturbance in psychological and emotional functioning of patients, leading to anxiety and depression, even early in the disease. Identification and management of these problems should be included as a part of the holistic approach for patient care. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence of anxiety and depression in patients with primary glaucoma using a standard validated questionnaire. Methodology: A cross-sectional prevalence study was carried out on 200 patients attending the glaucoma outpatient clinic at a tertiary care eye hospital in Pune, India....

Outcomes of Resident Performed Hydrus, iStent, and Kahook Glaucoma Procedures in a Predominantly African American Population
Conclusion: In this study, the difference in IOP lowering and medication reduction postoperatively between the Hydrus, iStent, and Kahook was not statistically significant after postoperative day 1. More studies are needed to evaluate outcomes of MIGS surgeries in glaucoma populations of different disease severity. (Source: Journal of Glaucoma)

Multiple Systemic Vascular Risk Factors Are Associated With Low-Tension Glaucoma
Précis: Multiple systemic vascular-associated conditions including systemic hypertension and hypotension, diabetes mellitus, migraine headache, peripheral vascular disease, Raynaud syndrome, and anemia were associated with low-tension glaucoma. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify systemic risk factors associated with low-tension glaucoma. Patients and Methods: A retrospective case-control study design was employed to identify patients seen at the Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology between 2005 and 2015 with low-tension glaucoma and an age-matched and sex-matched control group, each co...

Intraocular Pressure Changes in the Contralateral Eye After Glaucoma Surgery
Précis: Glaucoma surgery in 1 eye can result in significant intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation in the fellow eye in a significant percentage of subjects. This effect is more pronounced following glaucoma drainage device implantation and in subjects developing postoperative hypotony in the first eye. Purpose: The aim was to investigate the course and magnitude of IOP changes in contralateral eyes following glaucoma surgery. Patients and Methods: We studied 131 glaucoma patients undergoing surgery. IOP changes in fellow eyes and the number of glaucoma medications were recorded for 6 months. Both normal a...
