Intersecting minority statuses and tryptophan degradation among stimulant-using, sexual minority men living with HIV.
Conclusion: Being more out may be protective for non-Hispanic White SM men, but not for their SM MOC peers. Outness mattered for participants who did not receive the positive affect intervention. Findings underscore the potentially different contexts and consequences of outness depending on SM men’s race/ethnicity and whether they received a positive affect intervention. Treating trauma and aggression with narrative exposure therapy in former child and adult soldiers: A randomized controlled trial in Eastern DR Congo.
Conclusion: FORNET is a compact and scalable psychotherapeutic intervention that effectively reduces current aggressive behavior including physical abuse against children, intimate partner violence (IPV), and community violence. FORNET further decreases appetitive aggression, posttraumatic stress symptoms, and other clinical and social problems that commonly hinder demobilization, reintegration, and post-conflict peacebuilding. How well do indirect measures assess sexual interest in children? A meta-analysis.
Conclusions: Findings suggest that publication bias did not substantially distort the results. However, the lack of significant moderators suggests more research is needed to understand the conditions under which indirect measures best reflect pedohebephilic interest. Effects of a brief motivational smoking intervention in non-treatment seeking disadvantaged Black smokers.
This study developed and tested the effects of a novel, evidence-based, brief smoking intervention culturally targeted for disadvantaged Black smokers (ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT04460417). Method: In this randomized controlled trial, primarily low-income Black non-treatment-seeking smokers (N = 204, 51% female) were randomized to enhanced care (EC) or treatment as usual (TAU). The EC group received a 30-min session with personal feedback on smoking, education on health outcomes and tobacco advertising targeting Black smokers, and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) starter kits. TAU included provision of self-help materials...

A randomized trial of an online, coach-assisted self-management PTSD intervention tailored for women veterans.
Conclusions: Both DESTRESS–WV and phone monitoring resulted in significant improvements in women Veterans’ PTSD symptoms. DESTRESS–WV may be an appropriate care model for women Veterans who can engage in the demands of the treatment and have higher baseline symptoms. Future research should explore characteristics of and the methods of reliably identifying women Veterans who are most likely to benefit. Impact of treatment improvement on long-term anxiety: Results from CAMS and CAMELS.

Modular cognitive behavioral therapy for autism-related symptoms in children: A randomized controlled trial.
This study compared modular cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with enhanced standard community treatment (ESCT) in terms of impact on the severity of autism-related symptoms. Method: Children with ASD (N = 107; aged 6–13 years) were randomly assigned to a treatment condition (CBT or ESCT). Both treatments provided 32 therapy sessions. The CBT condition utilized a modular design, matching specific evidence-based treatment elements to each child’s clinical needs (e.g., social-communication symptoms). The ESCT condition provided social skills training and cognitive behavioral training in a structured and linear group the...

Psychodynamic technique and therapeutic alliance in prediction of outcome in psychodynamic child psychotherapy.
Conclusion: Findings suggest that the use of psychodynamic interventions is indicated in the context of a strong therapeutic alliance, especially for children with noncomorbid problems. Psychodynamic interventions may have an adverse effect if a therapeutic alliance is not established. For children with comorbid problems, keeping the relationship strong is important. Nonsuicidal self-injury, suicide ideation, and suicide attempts among sexual minority children.
Conclusions: In a large sample of 9–10-year-old U.S. children, sexual orientation disparities emerged across NSSI, suicide ideation, and suicide attempts. Results indicate that sexual minority children are a vulnerable population for SITBs. Inclusion of children in prevention programs is encouraged. Symptom-specific effects of cognitive therapy and behavior therapy for insomnia: A network intervention analysis.
Conclusions: This is the first study that observed specific differential treatment effects for BT and CT throughout the course of their treatment. These effects were more pronounced for BT than for CT and were in line with the theoretical background of these treatments. We think the embedment of the theoretical background of CT and BT in empirical data is of major importance to guide further treatment development. Long-term efficacy of contingency management treatment based on objective indicators of abstinence from illicit substance use up to 1 year following treatment: A meta-analysis.
Conclusions: CM showed long-term benefit in reducing objective indices of drug use, above and beyond other active, evidence-based treatments (e.g., cognitive–behavioral therapy, 12-step facilitation) and community-based intensive outpatient treatment. These data suggest that policymakers and insurers should support and cover costs for CM, which is the focus of hundreds of studies demonstrating its short-term efficacy and, now, additional data supporting its long-term efficacy. Altering preferences for suicide crisis resources using the decoy nudge: Evidence of context-dependent effects in suicide prevention decision making.
Conclusions: These findings indicate that using decoys could be an effective nudge for influencing people’s preference toward best practices. Most important, these findings highlight the importance of context effects on choice preference in suicide research and prevention efforts, as well as suggest irrational decision-making processes in suicide-relevant decision making.
