Community needs and recommendations for multilevel mental health interventions among young Black men with previous trauma exposure.
Conclusions: Qualitative findings have potential to provide the foundation for culturally relevant interventions to improve access to mental health care and engagement in services. It is imperative that researchers partner with communities to address these disparities. Applying best practices for health disparities work to create a treatment adaptation framework for culturally diverse communities: A mixed-methods approach.
Conclusion: The main aims of this study were to exemplify best practices for addressing mental health inequities in communities of color in terms of (a) conducting health disparities research and (b) applying a treatment adaptation framework for culturally responsive clinical care. Specific features of how this framework was conceived and applied provide a unique and critical view into integrating best practices to address health disparities in diverse communities. Criminal offense charges in women: A 10-year follow-up of an RCT of treatment foster care Oregon.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Vol 90(12), Dec 2022, 901-910; doi:10.1037/ccp0000764Objective: The prevention of delinquency can have long-term benefits for both the individual and society. Previous work has demonstrated positive effects of Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) on reducing delinquency across a 2-year period for adolescent females involved in the juvenile justice system. The present study examined whether the effects of TFCO are present across a 10-year period, and whether criminal offenses accrued in the juvenile justice system mediate the association between intervention condition and cumula...

Change during cognitive and exposure phases of cognitive–behavioral therapy for autistic youth with anxiety disorders.
Conclusions: Results underscore the central role of exposure in the treatment of anxiety among autistic youth and question the utility of cognitive strategies without subsequent practice of these skills during exposure. Assuming a working relationship, therapists should consider moving through the preexposure coping phase of CBT quickly. Future research should evaluate the extent to which exposure can maintain its potency while minimizing coping skill preparation. Temporal exploration of the interpersonal theory of suicide among adolescents during treatment.
Conclusions: Results are partially consistent with the ITS, but in contrast to the theory, the most consistent predictor of suicidal ideation was prior suicidal ideation. Prior levels of hopelessness, belongingness, and burdensomeness did influence suicidal ideation at some time points, but the most consistent effects were from hopelessness toward burdensomeness. Theoretical and treatment implications for these findings are discussed, particularly the need to directly address hopelessness in treatment. Which adolescents are well-suited to app-based mindfulness training? A randomized clinical trial and data-driven approach for personalized recommendations.
Conclusions: Findings support the efficacy of a mindfulness app to reduce state rumination in adolescents, particularly among adolescents high in trait rumination. A predictive model is put forth, which could be used to objectively communicate expected mindfulness app outcomes to adolescents prior to engagement in app-based mindfulness training. Culturally adapted digital mental health interventions for ethnic/racial minorities: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Conclusions: Culturally adapted DMHIs are efficacious and acceptable. Such interventions represent a powerful opportunity to circumvent barriers to mental health treatment and improve mental health equity among racially and ethnically minoritized communities. However, the prevalence of feasibility studies, lack of active comparison treatments—and limited research for Black and Indigenous populations—indicate that more research is needed to achieve this purpose. Recommendations are discussed. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2022 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology)

The timing and magnitude of symptom improvements during an Internet-delivered transdiagnostic treatment program for anxiety and depression.
Conclusions: A substantial number of people who receive internet-delivered treatments appear to experience rapid, large, and clinically significant symptom improvement early in treatment. These findings add to our theoretical understanding of symptom improvements during psychotherapy, and further research investigating the mechanisms of such change will inform the development of more effective treatments.
