Examining the efficacy of prenatal intervention in reducing IPV revictimization and improving maternal mental health: A quasirandomized controlled trial of the Pregnant Moms’ Empowerment Program (PMEP).
Conclusions: Together, these data suggest that PMEP is a promising evidence-based intervention for pregnant, IPV-exposed women, and that the effects—particularly for IPV and depression—are likely to be sustained over time. Targeting maladaptive anger with brief therapist-supported internet-delivered emotion regulation treatments: A randomized controlled trial.
Conclusions: Brief therapist-supported internet-delivered MEA and CR treatments are effective interventions for maladaptive anger. Combining MEA and CR is especially effective in reducing anger expression and aggression, particularly, in individuals who report higher levels of initial anger pathology. The present study highlights the importance of emotion regulation as an important treatment target for reducing maladaptive anger. Engagement with homework in an Internet-delivered therapy predicts reduced anxiety and depression symptoms: A latent growth curve analysis.
Conclusion: The findings provide evidence of the importance of patients’ self-rated engagement with homework in ICBT as well psychometric evidence supporting use of homework ratings to assess engagement. Further studies are needed to replicate the association between homework engagement and reduction in anxiety and depression symptoms. Two eating disorder preventive interventions reduce attentional biases in body-dissatisfied university women: A cluster randomized controlled trial.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Vol 90(12), Dec 2022, 911-924; doi:10.1037/ccp0000768Objective: This cluster randomized controlled trial evaluated the efficacy of participation in the Body Project—a cognitive-dissonance-based preventive intervention that reduces self-reported body dissatisfaction—for reducing body-dissatisfaction-related attentional biases. We hypothesized that women in a Body Project condition would show a greater reduction in attentional biases to weight-related images and words at postintervention than women in a wait-list control condition. Clients’ current presentation yields best prediction of criminal recidivism: Jointly modeling repeated assessments of risk and recidivism outcomes in a community sample of paroled New Zealanders.
Conclusions: Change in dynamic risk factors is consistently associated with recidivism outcomes. When using changeable factors to monitor clients’ current risk for recidivism, practitioners should focus on current presentation rather than the entire assessment history, although differences in predictive discrimination are small.
