Abstract Behavioral tendencies that might be captured through self-report measures may provide insight into personality features that are associated with substance addictions. Recently, impulsivity and related constructs, such as sensation-seeking, have been examined to help better understand their relationships with addictions. Abstract Gambling dates back to ancient times, yet new arenas for gambling, such as the Internet, and methods of assessing psychiatric illness in the modern age have shifted our understanding of gambling as an addiction.
