Prognostic utility and characteristics of MIB-1 labeling index as a proliferative activity marker in childhood low-grade glioma: a retrospective observational study
CONCLUSION: These data confirm a correlation of MIB-1 LI and radiologically detectable TGV in PLGG for the first time. Compared with preoperative TGV, a crucially decreasing correlation of MIB-1 LI and TGV after surgery may result in limited prognostic capability of MIB-1 LI in PLGG.PMID:38580878 | PMC:PMC10997709 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-024-05701-w (Source: Clin Med Res)

Prognostic impact of metabolic syndrome in patients with primary endometrial cancer: a retrospective bicentric study
CONCLUSION: In our analysis, MetS in patients with EC was not associated with impaired oncological outcome. However, our findings show that obesity itself is an important comorbidity associated with significantly reduced PFS.PMID:38570343 | PMC:PMC10991018 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-024-05699-1 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Tumor suppressor role of the complement inhibitor CSMD1 and its role in TNF-induced neuroinflammation in gliomas
CONCLUSIONS: Our study has identified CSMD1 as a tumor suppressor in gliomas and elucidated its role in TNF-induced neuroinflammation, contributing to a deeper understanding of glioma pathogenesis.PMID:38561856 | PMC:PMC10986120 | DOI:10.1186/s13046-024-03019-6 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Impact of pulmonary hypertension on outcomes after TEER in patients suffering from mitral regurgitation
CONCLUSION: PAWP at baseline was significantly and independently associated with HFH and might serve as a valuable parameter for identifying patients at high risk for HFH after M-TEER. ACM and procedural success were not affected by pulmonary arterial pressure before M-TEER. We suggest that the post-capillary component of PH serves as the driving force behind the risk of HFH.PMID:38565712 | DOI:10.1007/s00392-024-02442-1 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Comparison of Clinical Features, Treatment and Outcomes of Lupus Nephritis Between Patients With Late- and Early-Onset Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Controlled Study
CONCLUSION: This matched controlled study of year at SLE diagnosis showed that late-onset SLE patients had lower prevalence of LN and LN flares. Although they received fewer immunosuppressive drugs, their renal manifestations and treatment outcomes were no different from those in early-onset patients.PMID:38550544 | PMC:PMC10970043 | DOI:10.14740/jocmr5097 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Platelet Glycoprotein IIIa < em > PlA1/PlA2 < /em > Polymorphism Modulates the Risk of Myocardial Infarction in Non-Diabetics
CONCLUSIONS: The GPIII PlA1/PlA1 genotype is associated with a reduced risk of ST-segment elevation and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, while PlA1/PlA2 is associated with an increased risk of both types of myocardial infarction.PMID:38550545 | PMC:PMC10970036 | DOI:10.14740/jocmr5094 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Phenotyping: An Unmet Educational Need of Healthcare Providers
CONCLUSIONS: Phenotyping of patients with serum A1AT 57 - 99 mg/dL at our institution is inadequate. Accordingly, regular continuous medical educational programs on A1AT phenotyping targeting healthcare providers are warranted.PMID:38550546 | PMC:PMC10970038 | DOI:10.14740/jocmr5111 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Headache Phenotypes in Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension and Its Short-Term Outcomes: A Retrospective Case Series Study
CONCLUSIONS: In our study, migraine and unclassifiable types were the most commonly reported headache phenotypes. Headache phenotype does not appear to be an essential factor in allowing clinical distinction, treatment response, or predicting the short-term headache outcome of this intriguing entity.PMID:38550547 | PMC:PMC10970040 | DOI:10.14740/jocmr5141 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Presence of Spontaneous Nystagmus, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, and Tumarkin Fall in Patients With Primary Headache and Their Responses to Caloric and Video Head Impulse Tests
CONCLUSIONS: In VM patients, the prevalences of decompensated peripheral damage and BPPV were higher than in migraine and TTH patients as disclosed by the presence of peripheral spontaneous nystagmus and abnormal vHIT during the interictal period. Our findings suggest that the peripheral vestibular system acts as a significant mechanism in the pathogenesis of VM, and it might also be involved in migraine and TTH cases without vertigo symptoms.PMID:38550548 | PMC:PMC10970037 | DOI:10.14740/jocmr5088 (Source: Clin Med Res)

Therapeutic Potential of Buprenorphine in Depression: A Meta-Analysis of Current Evidence
CONCLUSIONS: Preliminary evidence suggests potential efficacy of buprenorphine at lower doses in improving improving outcomes specifically related to depression. However, due to limitations in statistical significance and possible confounding factors, entail cautious interpretation. Further rigorous research is needed to investigate the long-term effects, optimal dosing, and determine the role of adjuvant drug therapy.PMID:38550549 | PMC:PMC10970042 | DOI:10.14740/jocmr5050 (Source: Clin Med Res)
