Shame facets as predictors of problematic eating behaviors: An ecological momentary assessment study
Behav Res Ther. 2023 Jul 29;168:104381. doi: 10.1016/j.brat.2023.104381. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIt is well-established that negative affect acts as predictor and maintenance factor of problematic eating behaviors. However, the relevance of different facets of negative affect is unclear. While guilt was consistently shown as having a relevant contribution in relation with problematic eating patterns, shame might play a similar role. The current study used an ecological momentary assessment design to assess associations between facets of shame and subsequent disturbed eating behaviors. The study included 57 females wi...

Developing an interpretation bias modification training task for alleviating loneliness in young people
CONCLUSIONS: Interpretation biases relevant to youth loneliness may be modifiable, and CBM-I training could reduce feelings of loneliness. This informs psychological models of loneliness, and the development of CBM-I interventions targeting loneliness in young people.PMID:37541156 | DOI:10.1016/j.brat.2023.104380 (Source: Behaviour Research and Therapy)

Mechanisms of change in digital cognitive behavioral therapy for depression in patients with chronic back pain: A mediation analysis of a multicenter randomized clinical trial
CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest a relevant role of pain self-efficacy and pain-related disability as change processes in the treatment of depression for patients with CBP in routine care. However, further research is needed to disclose potential reciprocal relationships of mediators, and to extend and specify our knowledge of the mechanisms of change in digital CBT for depression.PMID:37531807 | DOI:10.1016/j.brat.2023.104369 (Source: Behaviour Research and Therapy)

Advances in the adaptation and implementation of evidence-based interventions for historically marginalized groups
Behav Res Ther. 2023 Jul 21;168:104377. doi: 10.1016/j.brat.2023.104377. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis collection of six articles showcases innovative approaches to adapting and deploying evidence-based interventions with individuals from historically marginalized groups to advance mental health equity. The field of cultural adaptation has matured beyond initial questions about whether specific culturally adapted interventions work, and must now adopt designs that can yield generalizable knowledge concerning how and under what circumstances such adaptations can promote improved engagement and effectiveness with unders...
