Perceptions, beliefs, attitudes, and knowledge of US Latino adults pertaining to dementia and brain health: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Opportunities exist to increase knowledge of ADRD signs and symptoms, and awareness of risk and protective factors. Given the heterogeneity of Latinos in the USA, more research is warranted to better elucidate nuances in conceptualizations of brain health and aging among diverse Latino subgroups.PMID:37874117 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2268050 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

Internalized ageism as a risk factor for suicidal ideation in later life
CONCLUSION: Findings present implications for understanding an association between ageism and suicidal ideation. Results speak to the importance of recognizing and understanding the impact of ageism. Examining the development clinical guidelines and policies that address ageism as a risk factor for suicide is warranted.PMID:37861403 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2271870 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

Community-based support to improve mental health and wellbeing in older sexually and gender diverse people: a scoping review
CONCLUSION: The use of community-based support by older SGD people is underexplored. More interventions designed for and by this community are needed, along with experimental research to draw conclusions on effectiveness to improve mental health or wellbeing.PMID:37855436 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2269097 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

Designing and developing a nature-based virtual reality with heart rate variability biofeedback for surgical anxiety and pain management: evidence from total knee arthroplasty patients
CONCLUSIONS: Nature-based VR and 2D video with HRVBF can mitigate surgical pain and anxiety. However, VR may be more efficacious than 2D video in reducing pain.PMID:37850735 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2270442 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

The role of positive psychological wellbeing in walking speed differences among married and unmarried English older adults
Conclusion: Although wealth has been previously found to partially explain walking speed differences by marital status, we found that positive psychological wellbeing also demonstrated pertinence to these differences.PMID:37846896 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2268032 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

myHealthHub for older adult inpatients to reduce loneliness, and improve patient engagement and mental health: protocol of a pilot randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: This novel pilot clinical trial will obtain preliminary data on the efficacy of myHealthHub in reducing loneliness, QOL, patient engagement, and mental health outcomes in older adult inpatients. If successful, this could provide a potential means to improve patient experience in hospitals and reduce the burden and additional expense on the healthcare system.PMID:37830771 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2265841 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)
