How sustainable is resilience? A mixed-methods study on the COVID-19-pandemic as a challenge to resilience resources of older adults who previously recovered from depression
CONCLUSION: Many of the resources that previously helped to recover from depression also helped to maintain good mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Where accessibility and protectiveness declined, compensatory strategies or new resources were used. Hence, the sustainability of resilience is enabled through adaptation and compensation processes.PMID:38497375 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2024.2326890 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

Elder abuse victimization, mental health, and protective factors
CONCLUSION: Given the significant association between elder abuse and negative mental health outcomes among older survivors, screening and prevention programs are recommended. Older adults who have experienced elder abuse may benefit from programs designed to increase physical activity and help older adults build and maintain close relationships with friends and confidants.PMID:38497252 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2024.2326992 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

EmpRess: an eHealth implementation readiness checklist for dementia developed through an interview study of stakeholder needs
CONCLUSIONS: The EmpRess checklist applies an inclusive design approach. The checklist will help evaluate the implementation determinants of eHealth interventions for dementia and provide up-to-date information on what is, and is not, working in eHealth for dementia care.PMID:38468471 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2024.2323951 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

Empathy and support exchanges in couples coping with early-stage Alzheimer's disease
CONCLUSION: Findings describe support reciprocity in early-stage AD and debunk the myth of people with AD being only recipients of care. We identify risk and resilience in couples per empathy and inform the design of dyadic interventions to promote mutually beneficial relationships in AD.PMID:38468497 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2024.2326958 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)
