Mindset matters: contributions from grit and growth mindsets to successful aging
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings reveal grit-effort and a growth mindset as important contributors to successful aging in middle and older adulthood. Because psychological constructs are malleable, continued study of grit and growth mindsets is essential to enable their eventual application in changing the aging process.PMID:37970946 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2280626 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

'We all have a stake in this': a phenomenological inquiry into integrating suicide intervention in home-delivered meal service contexts
CONCLUSION: HDM and other nutrition services have potential for addressing late life suicide, particularly when volunteers best equipped to address risk receive training and HDM policies reflect the needs of their clients. Implications for HDM services, as well as the Aging Services Network, are discussed.PMID:37970795 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2282681 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

Measurement of neuropsychiatric symptoms in the older adults with mild cognitive impairment based on speech and facial expressions: a cross-sectional observational study
CONCLUSION: Depression, anxiety, and apathy were characterized by distinct speech and facial features. The machine learning model developed in this study demonstrated good classification in detecting depression, anxiety, and apathy. A combination of audio and video may provide objective methods for the precise classification of these symptoms.PMID:37970813 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2280913 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)

Grief and loss in people living with dementia: a review and metasynthesis of qualitative studies
CONCLUSION: It is evident that people living with dementia can experience grief related to a range of previous, current and anticipated losses. Many of the studies included in this review did not directly include people living with dementia in their research and did not ask participants directly about their experience of grief and loss. As grief is a highly personal and individual experience, further research addressing the experience of grief that directly includes participants living with dementia is required, in order to improve awareness of grief-related needs and to develop and deliver support to meet these needs.PMID...

Characterizing different patterns of digital competence and their associations with loneliness and social isolation among older adults: findings from South Korea
CONCLUSION: The present findings suggest that understanding different profiles of digital competence and facilitating active digital participation related to specific profiles can be an effective strategy to reduce older adults' social isolation and loneliness.PMID:37938112 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2277872 (Source: Aging and Mental Health)
