NYU vs. WashU vs. Hopkins vs. UC Irvine
I am very split because my two biggest goals long-term are to #1 be in California, and #2 stay in academics. However, it feels like I have to choose one or the other right now with my school choices. Cost is not a major factor for me at the moment. Not certain about specialty yet but interests right now are neurology, radiology (specifically neuroradiology), anesthesia, or infectious diseases - pretty broad so not weighing that too heavily. I do know I am generally not interested in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Procedures done by ID Docs
(First year MD student) — Not sure if this belongs on a different forum, but thought I'd start here. From a medical perspective, and the perspective of my career (i.e. opportunities for research, broader impact on medical system), infectious disease seems like a really great option for me. However, ever since I have been interested in medicine, a core desire of mine has been to address patient's problems with my hands. Over the years, I have learned that this might not necessarily be surgery... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UCSF vs. WashU in St. Louis
Hi friends! I am so so fortunate to have acceptances to great schools, but I'm a little confused on what I should do now. Right now, I have acceptances to UCSF, WashU in St. Louis, and UVA (awaiting results from UW and Columbia interviews now). I think I am going to withdraw from my spot at UVA, as I don't think even a total COA scholarship would compel me to choose it over my other two schools. Currently, I am heavily leaning towards UCSF (for their P/F/lack of AOA), but I would definitely... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I am currently a PGY 2 in paediatrics and I am very interested in pursuing a dermatology residency after the completion of my pediatric residency. Can't put my fingers on exactly what area I am interested in...is it a bad look for letters of intent?
I am a 4th year pharmacy student currently in my 6th APPE block and starting my journey applying to Pharmacy residencies around the country. As of right now, I have not been able to narrow down my interests to just one area; however, I am currently interested in managed care, infectious disease, pediatrics, ambulatory care, critical care, medication safety, and community. I plan on applying mainly to managed care pharmacy system programs, pediatric programs, and some clinical programs that... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dismissed from a US MD school how does this affect chances at AA/PA school?
Hi, Looking for some guidance on this thread. I was dismissed from a US MD school last year for academic performance. I was a second year medical student who failed two courses infectious disease and neurology and did not pass the makeup exams which led to my dismissal from medical school. I am also in the appeal process of trying to get readmitted for the class this fall to repeat the second year of medical school. I realize there are no guarantees. I was advised to get a lawyer or switch... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What to expect from shadowing a hospitalist?
I am going to be shadowing an internal medicine / infectious disease hospitalist. I am a bit nervous because this will be my first shadowing experience and I'm not sure what really to do or say, or if I'm actually expected to do or say anything at all lol. Peeps, tell me about your shadowing experience! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MPH vs. Peace Corps
Hi everyone, I'm a rising senior in undergrad planning on taking several years before applying to medical school (probably 4-5) and I'm trying to decide between pursuing an MPH and volunteering in the Peace Corps straight out of undergrad. I'm particularly interested in global health/infectious disease, so both options seem like they would be great. I just don't know if one would provide certain advantages over the other. I would be a community health outreach volunteer in Kenya, which is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
