Long-Term Risk of Reintervention After Surgical Leiomyoma Treatment in an Integrated Health Care System
CONCLUSION: Long-term reintervention risks for uterine artery embolization, endometrial ablation, and hysteroscopic myomectomy are greater than for myomectomy, with potential variation by patient age and parity but not BMI, race and ethnicity, or Neighborhood Deprivation Index.PMID:38547478 | DOI:10.1097/AOG.0000000000005557 (Source: Obstetrics and Gynecology)

Long-Term Mesh Exposure 5 Years Following Minimally Invasive Total Hysterectomy and Sacrocolpopexy
ConclusionThe study found that mesh exposure risk gradually increased over time, reaching nearly 10% after more than 5  years post-surgery, regardless of suture type. However, surgical success remained high, and no delayed serious adverse events were reported. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Squamous cell carcinoma malignant transformation in mature cystic teratoma of the ovary: a case report and review of the literature
ConclusionThere are a great number of reports in the literature regarding mature cystic teratoma of the ovary transformation into malignancy, so these neoplasms must be considered as a possible differential diagnosis and should be evaluated in older individuals with abdominal pain and palpable mass, or those with considerable tumor diameter and raised serum tumor markers. Intraoperative frozen section pathology of vaginal margin in radical hysterectomy on the prognosis and quality of life for patients with IB2-IIA2 cervical cancer: study protocol for a multicenter randomized controlled trial
This study aimed to conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to determine whether selective vaginal resection can reduce the incidence of operative complications and the risk of postoperative radiotherapy. The impact of the length of the vagina removed in radical hysterectomy (RH) on prognosis and quality of life (QoL) for IB2-IIA2 CC patients will be investigated.METHODS: A multicenter, non-inferiority, RCT at 7 institutions in China is designed to investigate the effect of intraoperative frozen pathology exam of vaginal margin in RH on the survival outcomes for patients with IB2-IIA2 CC. Eligible patients aged 18-70 y...

Outcome of robot-assisted surgery for stage IA endometrial cancer compared to open and laparoscopic surgeries: a retrospective study at a single institution
AbstractFew studies have compared the efficacy of robot-assisted, laparoscopic, and open surgeries for endometrial cancer. When considering the position of robotic surgery in Japan, it was necessary to determine whether it was effective or not. We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of these three types of surgeries for early-stage endometrial cancer. In total, 175 patients with endometrial cancer of preoperative stage IA, who had undergone laparotomic (n = 80), laparoscopic (n = 40), or robot-assisted (n = 55) modified radical hysterectomy at our hospital from 2010 to 2022, were included; surgical outcome...

Postpartum Necrotizing Myositis With Endometrial Prolapse
CONCLUSIONS: Although rare, postpartum necrotizing myositis should be considered in postpartum patients presenting with fever, abdominal pain, severe infection symptoms, and abnormal vaginal discharge. Culture and sensitivity testing are recommended to direct appropriate antibiotic therapy.PMID:38513235 | DOI:10.1097/AOG.0000000000005556 (Source: Obstetrics and Gynecology)

Regular follow-up with cervical cytology is of questionable value following surgical treatment of microinvasive cervical cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Microinvasive cervical cancer is effectively managed with conservative surgery. There were no recurrent cancers detected in our cohort during follow-up and there were only 2 high grade dyskaryoses detected (n = 2/510, 0.39 %). We therefore believe that reducing the intensity of follow up of these patients should be considered.PMID:38513505 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.03.020 (Source: Reproductive Biology)
