Interventions for improving coverage of childhood immunisation in low- and middle-income countries
CONCLUSIONS: Health education, home-based records, a combination of involvement of community leaders with health provider intervention, and integration of immunisation services may improve vaccine uptake. The certainty of the evidence for the included interventions ranged from moderate to very low. Low certainty of the evidence implies that the true effect of the interventions might be markedly different from the estimated effect. Further, more rigorous RCTs are, therefore, required to generate high-certainty evidence to inform policy and practice.PMID:38054505 | PMC:PMC10698843 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD008145.pub4 (Source...

Neurodevelopmental assessment of normocephalic children born to Zika virus exposed and unexposed pregnant people
CONCLUSIONS: This study found no statistically significant differences in the neurodevelopment of normocephalic children between in utero ZIKV exposed and unexposed. Nevertheless, long-term monitoring of children with in utero ZIKV exposure is warranted.IMPACT: This study found no statistically significant differences in the neurodevelopment in normocephalic children with in utero Zika virus exposure compared to unexposed children, although the exposed group showed lower cognitive and language scores that persisted after adjustment by maternal age and education and after excluding children born preterm and low birth weight...

Family Separation at the US and Mexico Border Continues
Record-breaking levels of asylum seeking by families with young children continue at the U.S./Mexico border, particularly the Rio Grande Valley sector. In this Commentary, our aim is to increase awareness by providing child and adolescent mental health providers with an update on current migrant conditions, bringing to light issues of family separation previously highlighted in this journal1. EE712 Budget Impact Analysis of Faricimab for Treating Patients With Diabetes Macular Edema or Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration in El Salvador, Honduras, and Dominican Republic
Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) and neovascular Age-related Macular Degeneration (nAMD) cause vision loss leading to loss of health-related quality of life. Faricimab is a bispecific antibody that binds and inhibits both VEGF-A and angiopoietin-2. The aim is to estimate the budget impact (BI) of using Faricimab in Honduras (HON), El Salvador (SLV)& Dominican Republic (DR) public healthcare system. (Source: Value in Health)

EE559 The Burden of Disease of Diabetic Macular Edema and Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration in Honduras, El Salvador, & Dominican Republic
Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) and neovascular Age-related Macular Degeneration (nAMD) cause vision loss leading to morbidity and loss of health-related quality of life. Treatment in those countries is based on laser and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Our objective is to estimate the economic burden generated by these diseases in Honduras, El Salvador& Dominican Republic to have information that allows decision-makers to estimate the magnitude of this problem in the country.
