DNA test is an effective cervical cancer screening tool for women in low-income countries
(Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center) Dartmouth researchers have introduced an inexpensive DNA-based test for human papillomavirus (HPV), the cause of cervical cancer, in Honduras. The test aid can effectively be used to screen women who have never been screened for this deadly disease. The truth about a true frog: Unknown Costa Rican frog hidden amongst a widespread species
(Pensoft Publishers) Known to science since 1857, a common species of frog found from north-eastern Honduras through to central Panama, turns out to have been keeping its 'multiple identities' a secret. According to herpetologists from the University of Plymouth and UCL, who recently used DNA barcoding on the species, showed that what we currently call Warszewitsch's frog is indeed a group of " cryptic " species.
