A rare cause of intestinal obstruction: right paraduodenal hernia
This article aimed to present the diagnosis and treatment process of a 47-year-old male presenting with acute abdomen symptoms by evaluating retrospectively with the accompaniment of literature. During the abdominal exploration of the patient, nearly all of the intestines were observed to be herniated from the right paraduodenal region to the posterior area. The opening of the hernial sac was repaired primarily by reducing the intestinal bowel loops into the intraperitoneal region. The patient undergoing anastomosis by performing resection of the ischemic part after reduction of herniated bowel loops was discharged unevent...

Tackling complex thoracic surgical operations with robotic solutions: a narrative review
CONCLUSIONS: The robotic approach to complex thoracic problems is safe, effective, and associated with improved patient outcomes. To encourage wider adoption of robotic technology, increased training and expanded research efforts are essential, alongside improved worldwide access to this technology.PMID:38505049 | PMC:PMC10944716 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-1570 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)

Identifying postoperative complications after inguinal hernia repair with a smartphone application: a comparative cohort study
ConclusionThis study demonstrates satisfactory measurement capabilities of the Q1.6 Inguinal Hernia application for identifying postoperative complications following inguinal hernia repair. However, certain aspects require further improvement, such as addressing error-prone questions, enhancing long-term compliance, and validating (pain) measurements through prospective control data.Trail registration numberNL7813 (Dutch Trial Registry), 19 May 2019. Economic analysis of the robotic approach to inguinal hernia versus laparoscopic: is it sustainable for the healthcare system?
ConclusionsThe benefits observed in terms of recurrence rates and post-surgical complications do not justify the additional costs incurred by the robotic approach to inguinal hernia within the national public healthcare system. Nevertheless, it represents a simpler way to initiate the robotic learning curve, justifying its use in a training context. (Source: Hernia)
