Initial experience of a single surgeon for safety and feasibility of the Versius Robotic System in robot-assisted cholecystectomy and hernia repair
This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and perioperative outcomes of cholecystectomy and hernia repair performed with the Versius Robotic System by a surgeon with no prior robotic surgery experience. A retrospective analysis was conducted on adult patients who underwent cholecystectomy, inguinal, or umbilical hernia repair using the Versius Robotic System between August 2021 and June 2023 et al. Zahra Hospital, Dubai, UAE. A total of 105 patients (mean age 38.9  ± 9.2 years) were included. Significant correlations existed between the number of robot-assisted cholecystectomies and the operative metrics....

Preoperative optimization in hernia surgery: are we really helping or are we just stalling?
ConclusionModifying risk factors before undergoing elective hernia repair can improve the overall health of patients with multiple comorbidities. However, when considering the hernia-specific data, prolonging waiting times for patients to achieve full optimization is not justified. Surgeons should take a nuanced approach to balance achieving patient optimization without unnecessarily delaying surgical care. (Source: Hernia)

Robotic modified Sugarbaker technique for parastomal hernia repair: a standardized approach
In conclusion, paras tomal hernia, a common complication post-stoma creation, demands surgical intervention. The robotic-assisted modified Sugarbaker repair technique, as outlined in this paper, offers promising results in terms of feasibility and outcomes. (Source: Updates in Surgery)

Clinical outcomes and costs of retromuscular and intraperitoneal onlay mesh techniques in robotic incisional hernia repair
ConclusionDespite retromuscular repairs having lower postoperative complications than intraperitoneal onlay mesh repairs, both techniques offered encouraging results in robotic incisional hernia repair at a comparable total cost. (Source: Surgical Endoscopy)

Intra-abdominal hypertension and compartment syndrome after complex hernia repair
ConclusionIntra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and ACS require imperative attention and should be carefully considered when dealing with complex abdominal wall hernias, even without significant loss of domain. Development of a true abdominal compartment syndrome is relatively rare, but is a devastating complication and should be prevented at all cost. Current evidence on surgical treatment of ACS after hernia repair is scarce, but conservative management might be an option in the early phase and low grades of IAH. However, life-saving treatment by relaparotomy and open abdomen management should be initiated when ACS starts s...

Peritoneal flap technique for abdominal wall expansion in the management of complex ventral hernias: a multicentre study from India
ConclusionIn our multicentre study, we found the PF technique with or without TAR for midline and non-midline ventral hernia leads to satisfactory outcomes in terms of low recurrence, low rate of complications, and a good quality of life in the medium to long term. It appears to be a useful technique in the surgeon ’s armamentarium to repair W2 and W3 hernias needing expansion of abdominal domain. (Source: Hernia)

Bilateral Spigelian Hernias Robotic Repair: A Novel Approach to a Rare Surgical Entity
We present the first ever reported cases of bilateral Spigelian hernias repaired using robotic approach. Two female Puerto Rican patients referred to our institution complaining of abdominal pain, where imaging studies found bilateral Spigelian hernias. In both cases, a transabdominal preperitoneal repair was performed using the Da Vinci Surgical System. Both patients were discharged home tolerating oral intake with adequate wound healing. On follow up visits, patients denied abdominal discomfort and had adequate wound healing. Robotic surgery for Spigelian hernias poses an advantage over laparoscopic repair as improved vi...

"Slim-Mesh" Technique for Diastasis Recti Abdominis, Including Obesity-Related Cases
CONCLUSION: Considering the lack of agreement on the best surgery for diastasis recti abdominis repair, in our experience the "Slim-Mesh" technique is a valid, safe and easy-to-reproduce way to save, repair and reinforce linea alba/recti muscles in diastasis recti patients, including the obese population (53%).PMID:38562947 | PMC:PMC10984376 | DOI:10.4293/JSLS.2024.00003 (Source: JSLS : Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons)
