Fluvastatin prevents lung metastasis in triple-negative breast cancer by triggering autophagy via the RhoB/PI3K/mTOR pathway
Exp Cell Res. 2023 Dec 18:113893. doi: 10.1016/j.yexcr.2023.113893. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTriple-negative breast cancer is more common among younger than older women and is associated with the poorest survival outcomes of all breast cancer types. Fluvastatin inhibits tumour progression and induces the autophagy of breast cancer cells; however, the role of autophagy in fluvastatin-induced inhibition of breast cancer metastasis is unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to determine this mechanism. The effect of fluvastatin on human hormone receptor-negative breast cancer cells was evaluated in vitro via migration and w...

Efficacy of Topical Cholesterol and Statin Combination Therapy in the Treatment of Porokeratosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: This underpowered meta-analysis provides limited, preliminary evidence supporting the efficacy of topical cholesterol/statin therapy. Overall, quality studies and aggregated sample size are limited; future large clinical trials are needed to further elucidate the role of topical cholesterol/statin therapy in the treatment of porokeratosis.
