Mutant p53 murine oviductal epithelial cells induce progression of high-grade serous carcinoma and are most sensitive to simvastatin therapy in vitro and in vivo
This study suggests that simvastatin can induce anti-tumor effects and could be an important inhibitor of ovarian cancer progression.PMID:37986175 | DOI:10.1186/s13048-023-01307-x (Source: Cell Research)

A retrospective study of Pipelle endometrial biopsy for ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancers
CONCLUSION: Although the positive rate of Pipelle endometrial biopsy in ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancers is low, Pipelle endometrial biopsy may enable prompt histological diagnosis and initiation of chemotherapy while collecting tumour tissue for genetic testing in some cases with advanced disease.PMID:37983014 | DOI:10.1080/01443615.2023.2283162 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

An Unusual Presentation: High-Grade Serous Carcinoma of the Fallopian Tube Manifesting with Altered Mental Status Secondary to a Single Brain Metastasis – A Case Report and Review of The Literature
We present an illustrative case with multimodality imaging and histopathological correlation of a fallopian tube carcinoma first presenting with altered mental status secondary to an isolated brain metastasis. (Source: The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology)

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 5457: Potential Tumor Suppressor Role of Polo-like Kinase 5 in Cancer
Nihal Ahmad The polo-like kinase (PLK) family of serine/threonine kinases contains five members (PLK1–5). Most PLKs are involved in cell cycle regulation and DNA damage response. However, PLK5 is different as it lacks a functional kinase domain and is not involved in cell cycle control. PLK5 remains the least-studied family member, and its role in oncogenesis remains enigmatic. Here, we identified tissues with high PLK5 expression by leveraging the Protein Atlas and GTEx databases with relevant literature and selected ovarian, lung, testis, endometrium, cervix, and fallopian tube tissues as candidates fo...

Epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube and primary peritoneal cancer: an overview
Ovarian, fallopian tube and primary peritoneal cancer has the poorest survival outcomes of all gynaecological malignancies. The majority of women present with advanced stage, high grade disease following a period of generalised abdominal symptoms. There is currently no effective screening programme. Diagnosis is based on imaging and histology. Stratification of adnexal masses into benign and malignant categories has helped ensure appropriate patients are referred to the gynaecology oncology team. 3D laparoscopic treatment of bladder cancer with pelvic multi-organ invasion: a case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: Minimally invasive surgery is a curative option for patients with bladder cancer with pelvic multi-organ invasion without distant metastasis. Surgeons should strictly control the indications for surgery and warn patients about the occurrence of related post-surgical complications.PMID:37920155 | PMC:PMC10619152 | DOI:10.3389/fonc.2023.1249389 (Source: Cancer Control)

GSE239582 Single Cell Transcriptomics identifies a WNT7A-FZD5 Signaling Axis that maintains Fallopian Tube Stem Cells in Patient-derived Organoids [scRNA-seq]

Strong evidence points to the FT as the tissue-of-origin of high grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC), the most fatal gynaecological malignancy. HGSOC precursor lesions arise specifically in the distal FT (fimbria) which is reported to be enriched in stem-like cells. Investigat...
