The Effect of Tegoprazan on the Treatment of Endoscopic Resection-Induced Artificial Ulcers: A Multicenter, Randomized, Active-Controlled Study
CONCLUSIONS: : Tegoprazan showed similar effects on post-ESD artificial ulcer healing in comparison with esomeprazole.PMID:38384180 | DOI:10.5009/gnl230242 (Source: Gut and Liver)

The Relevance of Integrating CYP2C19 Phenoconversion Effects into Clinical Pharmacogenetics
Discussion PC of CYP2C19 changes phenotypes but does not improve correlations with serum concentrations. However, only a limited number of patients received perturbators of CYP2C19. Studies with large numbers of patients are still lacking, and thus, it cannot be decided if there are minor differences and which method of correction to use. For the time being, PC is relevant in individual patients treated with CYP2C19-affecting drugs, for example, esomeprazole. To ensure adequate serum concentrations in these patients, this study suggests the use of therap...

Relationships of Proton Pump Inhibitor-Induced Renal Injury with CYP2C19 Polymorphism: A Retrospective Cohort Study
In conclusion, this retrospective study showed that CYP2C19 metabolizer status was associated with the time to a 30% eGFR decrease in patients treated with lansoprazole, but not with esomeprazole, rabeprazole, or vonoprazan.PMID:38258325 | DOI:10.1002/cpt.3183 (Source: Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics)

Trend analysis of proton pump inhibitor consumption and expenditure: The real-world evidence
ConclusionWithin this analysis, we provide an illustrative representation of the prescribing trends for PPIs within a European context. Omeprazole, rabeprazole and lansoprazole appear to be the cheapest drugs compared to pantoprazole and esomeprazole. However, the results show that the most widely used PPIs, despite their therapeutic equivalence, are precisely the high-cost ones, thus generating higher expenditure for central governments.Graphical Abstract (Source: Indian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Clinical Study on the Eradication of Helicobacter pylori by Vonoprazan Combined with Amoxicillin for 10 ‐Day Dual Therapy
In this study,H. pylori patients (426) were enrolled and randomized into 3 groups: an EA14 group (20  mg of esomeprazole qid and 1000 mg of amoxicillin tid for 14 days), a VA14 group (20 mg of vonoprazan bid and 750 mg of amoxicillin qid for 14 days), and a VA10 group (20 mg of vonoprazan bid and 1000 mg of amoxicillin tid for 10 days). Key outcomes encompassed theH. pylori eradication rate, patient adverse effects, and compliance. In the EA14, VA14, and VA10 groups,H. pylori eradication rates were 89.4%, 90.1%, and 88.7% in intention-to-treat analysis, and 94.2%, 94.4%, and 94.6% in per-protocol analysis, respectiv...

Prescribing Patterns of Proton Pump Inhibitors in Germany: A Retrospective Study Including 472  146 Patients
This study highlights that discrepancies exist between clinical guidelines and real-life prescribing practices of PPIs in Germany. Particular attention should be given to the incidence of patients being prescribed high-dose or long-duration PPI with mild indications. These findings are particularly apt considering the publication (March 2023) of new guidelines on the "management of gastroesophageal reflux disease and eosinophilic esophagitis," by the DGVS.PMID:38142444 | DOI:10.1177/21501319231221002 (Source: Primary Care)
