Not another -iatry/-ology thread!
Hear me out please :') I have an extreme interest in working with eating disorders, mainly with cases acute enough for residential treatment. In this specialty, would going for psychiatry or clinical psychology be a better choice? Obviously with psychiatry I could also help with the medical symptoms and med management if needed. But I feel psychology might give me a better grounding to tackle the actual therapy. For situations like this, is a PCP or maybe GI specialist part of the team? I... Not another -iatry/-ology thread! Programs with good training in eating disorders
I'm sitting down to make my rank list and was wondering if anyone had an idea which of these programs offers good exposure to eating disorders? This is something I should probably have asked about during interviews but honestly, it didn't even occur to me that some programs would not have a lot of exposure until I asked about weaknesses at an interview and they mentioned lack of exposure to eating disorders. It's something I'm very interested in, both the inpatient and outpatient aspect.... Programs with good training in eating disorders (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Reconciling obesity Guidelines
There are a few guidelines for determining obesity, so what do you do when they directly contradict each other? I've heard the "reliable" sources tell me that BMI and waistline are reliable indicators. So what do I do when a patient comes to me with a 24 BMI and a 40" waist? He doesn't show any sort of severe abdominal obesity or anything. His BMI says "normal," but his waistline meets the guideline for obese. I ask this in particular because I and one of my friends both have these same... Reconciling obesity Guidelines (Source: Student Doctor Network)
