The Disease Spectrum and Natural History of Patients With Abdominal Bloating or Distension: A Longitudinal Study
CONCLUSIONS: FGIDs are the most common diagnosis in patients with AB/D. Symptoms were especially hard to be improved. Classification diagnoses of FGIDs in AB/D patients fluctuated significantly over time.PMID:38173159 | DOI:10.5056/jnm22197 (Source: Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility)

Clinical Trial: Efficacy of Mosapride Controlled-release and Nortriptyline in Patients With Functional Dyspepsia: A Multicenter, Double-placebo, Double-blinded, Randomized Controlled, Parallel Clinical Study
CONCLUSION: Mosapride CR and nortriptyline showed similar efficacy in patients with FD regardless of the subtype. Both treatments could be equally helpful for improving quality of life and psychological well-being while also relieving dyspepsia.PMID:38173162 | PMC:PMC10774802 | DOI:10.5056/jnm23147 (Source: Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility)

Measured levels of positive transglutaminase 2 antibodies are not associated with presentation or incidental endoscopic findings at celiac disease diagnosis
CONCLUSIONS: Presentation was similar in patients with moderate or high levels of TGA, whereas patients with negative TGA were different. The level of TGA was not associated with incidental endoscopic findings and the only malignancy presented with an alarm symptom atypical to celiac disease.PMID:38164975 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2023.2298709 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Effects of electroacupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding on gastrointestinal motility and gastrointestinal hormones in rats with functional dyspepsia
Chin J Physiol. 2023 Nov-Dec;66(6):526-533. doi: 10.4103/cjop.CJOP-D-23-00059.ABSTRACTElectroacupuncture (EA) or acupoint catgut embedding (ACE) plays a therapeutic role in functional dyspepsia (FD). Herein, we aimed to elucidate the influences of EA combined with ACE on gastrointestinal motility and gastrointestinal hormones in rats with FD. Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into the control group, model group, EA group, ACE group, and EA + ACE group (n = 10). Except for the control group, the rats in all groups were modeled by combining neonatal iodoacetamide gastrogavage and modified tail-clamping stimulation. The rat...
