Chronic Abdominal Discomfort Syndrome (CADS): Defining and Discussing a Novel Diagnosis
J Pain Res. 2024 Mar 11;17:975-979. doi: 10.2147/JPR.S450008. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTIn this article, we propose a new diagnostic paradigm known as Chronic Abdominal Discomfort Syndrome (CADS). Patient's presentation centers around chronic abdominal pain not explained by acute pathology with or without accompanying dyspepsia, bloating, nausea and vomiting among other symptoms. The pathophysiology is noted to be neurogenic, possibly stemming from visceral sympathetic nerves or abdominal wall afferent nerves. Diagnosis is supported by signs or symptoms traversing clinical, diagnostic and functional criteria. Included is a ...

Eosinophilic enterocolitis in duodenum, ileum, and colon: A case report
Heliyon. 2024 Mar 2;10(5):e26885. doi: 10.1016/j.heliyon.2024.e26885. eCollection 2024 Mar 15.ABSTRACTEosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) is a rare disease which mainly consists of an abnormal eosinophile infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract. It's classified according to its location: eosinophilic esophagitis, eosinophilic gastritis, eosinophilic enteritis (including duodenum, jejunum and/or ileum) and eosinophilic colitis and degree of infiltration (mucosal, muscular, serosal). Depending on eosinophile concentration, type of EGE and the patient's condition it may manifest with different clinical presentations such as...

Urea breath test for < em > Helicobacter pylori < /em > infection in adult dyspeptic patients: A meta-analysis of diagnostic test accuracy
CONCLUSION: In summary, our study has demonstrated that 13C-UBT has been found to outperform the 14C-UBT, making it the preferred diagnostic approach. Additionally, our results emphasize the significance of carefully considering urea dosage, assessment timing, and measurement techniques for both tests to enhance diagnostic precision. Nevertheless, it is crucial for researchers and clinicians to evaluate the strengths and limitations of our findings before implementing them in practice.PMID:38463019 | PMC:PMC10921142 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i6.579 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology : WJG)
