"It's On Your Shoulders Now" Transitioning from Child-to-Adult UK Cleft Lip/Palate Services: An Exploration of Young Adults' Narratives
CONCLUSION: Individuals born with CL/P may experience challenges in becoming responsible for their own care and treatment decisions. The findings of this study indicate that a dedicated transition protocol may be beneficial, such that adolescents are prepared to confidently access and manage their care into adulthood. Identification of a novel mutation of PDGFC gene in a girl with non-syndromic cleft lip and palate
CONCLUSION: The c.546dupA (p.L183fs) mutation of PDGFC has not been previously reported and was not found in human genome databases. We speculate that the c.546dupA mutation of the PDGFC gene, identified in the Iranian patient, may be responsible for the phenotype of non-syndromic CL/CP (ns-CL/CP). Suprazygomatic Maxillary Nerve Block in Palatoplasty: A Retrospective Cohort Study of Perioperative Outcomes in Syndromic and Non-Syndromic Children
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to surgical site infiltration of local anesthetic alone, adding SMB reduces intra- and postoperative narcotic requirements and decreases length of stay. These benefits apply to both syndromic and non-syndromic children.
