The indirect costs of human papillomavirus-related cancer in Central and Eastern Europe: years of life lost and productivity costs
CONCLUSIONS: There is a high disease burden of HPV-related cancer-related deaths in the CEE region, with a large economic impact to society due to substantial productivity losses. It is critical to implement and reinforce public health measures with the aim to reduce the incidence of HPV-related diseases, and the subsequent premature cancer deaths. Improving HPV screening and increasing vaccination programs, in both male and female populations, could help reduce this burden.PMID:38638098 | DOI:10.1080/13696998.2024.2341572 (Source: Journal of Medical Economics)

Integrating multisector molecular characterization into personalized peptide vaccine design for patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma
CONCLUSIONS: Collectively, our findings suggest NeoVax did stimulate expansion of neoantigen-specific effector T cells and provide encouraging results to aid in the development of future neoantigen vaccine-based clinical trials in patients with GBM. Herein, we demonstrate the feasibility of incorporating multisector sampling in cancer vaccine design and provide information on the clinical applicability of clonality, distribution, and immunogenicity of the neoantigen landscape in GBM patients.PMID:38639919 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-3077 (Source: Clinical Cancer Research)

Proposal of model for personalized early adapted cancer screening in people living with HIV: experience of "Gaetano Martino" Hospital University of Messina
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2024 Apr;28(7):2929-2942. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202404_35924.ABSTRACTHuman immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection has historically been related to the development of specific cancers, some of which are so closely linked to the infection, such as Kaposi's Sarcoma (KS), that they have earned the name Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)-defining cancers (ADCs). While the development of antiretroviral therapy (ART) has decreased the incidence of AIDS-defining cancers, the resulting aging of people living with HIV (PLWH) highlighted an increased occurrence of other forms of cancer. At the "Gaeta...
