Retroperitoneal sarcoma delineation
Hello! I have a question concerning the delineation of a retroperitoneal sarcoma. This patient has a dedifferentiated RPS, the biopsy was performed in the solid mass in the upper left abdomen. It's a high-grade liposarcoma, not metastatic. However, as you can see, there is a considerable mass, which likely represents well differentiated sarcoma, reaching very far into the pelvis. Neoadjuvant treatment is planned with chemo + RT, followed by surgery. Would any of you... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Re-SRS in a patient who has had WBRT?
All, wondering about precedence for this. I haven't treated this patient before, but to sum up, Extensive stage small cell initially with 2 brain mets. 30 Gy in 10 fx WBRT in March of 2019. Left cerebellar progression in May 2020 for which he got 18 Gy x 1. Since that time, he's been stable until recently when he had evidence of progression in the left cerebellum. Not rushing into anything, as I'm not entirely convinced this represents recurrent disease, but mostly curious if anyone has... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why is heme onc not considered a lifestyle speciality?
Recently been told by people heme onc is not considered a lifestyle speciality. Was told just cause you see patients in the clinic 4 days a week doesn't mean it's a lifestyle speciality. Was also told heme/onc =/= outpatient cancer visits. For someone who values personal time, lifestyle and like outpatient/clinic more; do you think oncology is not considered a lifestyle speciality? NYMC vs VCU
Hi everyone! Super lucky to have 2 A’s this cycle but I’m not sure which school would help me most with matching back to California. I don’t have a preference at all for location, and tuition will be the same for me at both schools. I also unfortunately don’t know exactly what I want to do yet, but too choices as of now are obgyn with a specialiastion in gyn surgery and hem/onc with a specialization in breast cancer. Please help me!! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Difficulty recruiting
Our group is a private group in Tampa, FL. We are recruting but have had struggle attracting candidates. It used to be that we would post jobs on the ASTRO board and get tons of applicants, now we struggle to get any. We are a private group that is lifestyle friendly (4 days per week) and partnership track. It appears most applicants these days prefer employed jobs at academic health systems. Where do physicians go these days to apply for jobs, if they're not using the ASTRO board... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Drug talks
As a fellow, I attended many pharma sponsored drug dinners. A lot of the speakers were academic faculty in the disease-specific field of the drug. However, there were several community oncologists, especially private practice oncologists, who gave these talks. I'm assuming they get paid at least a couple thousand per talk, as several of them were driven from several states away to our area to give the talks. How do I get involved in this as a private practice doc just starting out? Would... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Penn State vs Buffalo vs Temple
CONTEXT: I’ve received acceptances to both Penn State and Buffalo, waiting on a decision from Temple! I’m pretty set on Buffalo at the moment due to in-state tuition + I want to do heme/onc and they have a good cancer center. Upon interviewing at Temple I’m conflicted because it’s in more of an urban setting which is what I’m used to. MORE CONTEXT: Im from NYC and want to return to NYC for residency + do a fellowship at MSK. I like that Buffalo has a decent amount to do outside of school... IGRT orders by disease site
Hi! I'm working to update some of the policies in my department, and we'd like to standardize most of our IGRT by disease site. It would mainly be a starting point, and physicians can alter those based on preferences, individual patient anatomy, etc. Do any of you like a list of your typical IGRT orders (MV, kV, CBCT, etc and frequency) broken down by disease site? There's a lot of variability but appreciate your input (Source: Student Doctor Network)
