Coverage with Influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, and Updated COVID-19 Vaccines Among Nursing Home Residents - National Healthcare Safety Network, United States, December 2023
MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep. 2023 Dec 22;72(51):1371-1376. doi: 10.15585/mmwr.mm7251a3.ABSTRACTNursing home residents are at risk for becoming infected with and experiencing severe complications from respiratory viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Fall 2023 is the first season during which vaccines are simultaneously available to protect older adults in the United States against all three of these respiratory viruses. Nursing homes are required to report COVID-19 vaccination coverage and can voluntarily report influenza and RSV vaccination coverage among residents to CDC's Nationa...

Nexus between prevalence of Taenia solium (Cysticercus cellulosae) in pigs and retrospective study of humans cysticercosis cases in Benin hospitals
This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of porcine cysticercosis and to identify potential risk factors associated and their seroprevalence as well in Benin. The tongue palpation was performed on 4150 pigs from the pig farmers were randomly selected to diagnose cysticercosis and to assess the risk factors associated. In slaughterhouses, 792 pigs were inspected. Serum samples from 460 pigs were tested of the presence ofTaenia solium cysticercosis using the HP10 antigen-ELISA (Ag-ELISA). A logistic regression model with a 95% confidence interval was used to analyse the main risk factors associated. The tongue ...

Assessing the performance of national sentinel food lists at subnational levels in six countries
CONCLUSION: National sentinel food lists can provide reliable data at subnational levels for most food groups, with some variability by country and sub-region. Assessing the accuracy of national sentinel food lists, especially for fruits and vegetables, before using them at the subnational level could avoid potentially underestimating dietary diversity and provide more accurate local information for programs, policy, and research.PMID:38098429 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023002823 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)
