Successful Use of Ultrasound Guided Quadratus Lumborum Block Without General Anesthesia for Open Appendectomy in a Patient with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction- A Case Report and Literature Review
CONCLUSION: Quadratus Lumborum Block for open appendectomy can be a beneficial alternative anesthesia technique in high-risk patients that significantly lowers perioperative cardiovascular risk, maintains hemodynamics, enhances satisfaction, and shortens hospital stay.PMID:38419671 | PMC:PMC10899805 | DOI:10.2147/LRA.S438176 (Source: Local and Regional Anesthesia)

Antibiotic Treatment in Complicated Appendicitis: Can It Be Optimized?
CONCLUSIONS: Generalized peritonitis and CRP > 20 gr/L were highly correlated with changing the antibiotic regimen to TP. For such patients, initial treatment with TP may result in clinical improvement and shorter hospitalization.PMID:38420639 (Source: The Israel Medical Association Journal)

Ethnic disparities in pediatric appendicitis: the impact of hispanic ethnicity on presentation, complications, and postoperative outcomes
ConclusionHispanic children are more likely to present with complicated appendicitis, contributing to increased postoperative complications. Notably, upon adjustment for the impact of complicated appendicitis, our findings suggest potentially favorable outcomes for Hispanic ethnicity. This emphasizes the need to understand delays in presentation to improve outcomes in the Hispanic population. (Source: International Journal of Colorectal Disease)
