Postoperative abdominal herpes zoster complicated by intestinal obstruction: A case report
CONCLUSION: Pseudo-intestinal obstruction secondary to herpes zoster infection is difficult to distinguish from mechanical intestinal obstruction owing to various causes. In cases of inexplicable intestinal obstructions, considering the possibility of a viral infection is essential to minimize misdiagnosis and missed diagnoses.PMID:38464934 | PMC:PMC10921300 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v12.i6.1138 (Source: Herpes)

Ischaemic Gastropathy: An Under-Recognised cause of Abdominal Pain
We present a case involving a 42-year-old female with no history of vascular insufficiency who developed ischaemic gastropathy following a prolonged stay in the intensive care unit, from septic shock secondary to Escherichia coli bacteraemia due to complicated acute appendicitis. This case underscores the importance of the physician's awareness regarding this rare entity and the necessity to consider it in the differential diagnosis of abdominal pain and haematemesis. Prompt diagnosis and treatment may significantly improve survival outcomes in this less-documented pathology, especially in the younger adult population.LEAR...

Detection and identification of factors in the atrium responsible for blood pressure regulation in patients with hypertension
This study aimed to validate the transcriptional profiles of atrial genes responsible for blood pressure regulation in patients with hypertension as well as to identify the molecular mechanisms in rat biological systems. RNA sequencing data of left atrial appendages from patients with (n = 6) and without (n = 6) hypertension were subjected to unsupervised principal component analysis (PCA). Reduction of blood pressure was reflected by third and ninth principal components PC3 and PC9, and that eighteen transcripts, including endothelin-1, were revealed by PCA-based pathway analysis. Resection of t he left atrial ap...
